Indian Institute of Management, (IIM) Indore Overview
The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) is an elite public funded business school located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It was founded in 1996 and became the sixth addition to the Indian Institute of Management family. This was the first IIM to operate outside India with a campus at Ras al-Khaimah, UAE, established in 2011.
In 2014, after relocating to Dubai in the previous year, IIM-I shut down its UAE campus. IIM Indore offers five different management courses. On the UG level, IIM-I has the five-year full-time integrated programme which covers both the UG and PG levels.
While on the PG level, it offers a PG Programme in Management, a one-year full-time executive management course and an alternate weekend programme in the same subject. For researchers, IIM-I has a fellowship programme.
IIM Indore is chaired by the esteemed Deepak Satwalekar and the day to day operations are headed by Professor Himanshu Rai. The institute employs 106 permanent faculty members while also having provisions for more than 65 visiting faculty members.
Some of the most influential members of this highly qualified faculty include Professor Sushanta Mishra, Professor Dipayan Datta Chaudhuri and Professor Rajneet Nambudiri among others.
The 2019 edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework puts IIM-I fifth among all the management schools in India. The affluent news journal, The Week, on the other hand, had ranked IIM-I sixth in their list of the country’s best b-schools.
IIM Indore Courses and Fee Structure
Being one of the most renowned B-schools of the nation, IIM Indore mainly focuses on management courses. It offers programs across the UG, PG and Ph.D levels. Additionally, it also offers executive programs for working professionals.
- On the UG level, IIM-I has the five-year full-time Integrated Programme in Management.

IIM Indore Admission Process
IIM Indore is one of the most exclusive management schools in India which takes in only about 500 students, every year. Consequently, they follow a rigorous admission procedure. All candidates except for those who have applied for the integrated and the fellowship programmes are taken in on the basis of their performance in CAT.
International applications are merited on their GMAT scores. IPM candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the IIM-I entrance exam while the FPM candidates are shortlisted based on their RAT results.
- All the PG Programmes shortlist applications based on CAT or GMAT scores.
- All Executive PG Programmes shortlist applications based on a variety of factors: GMAT score, past academic merits, work experience and their performance in the interview conducted by the institute.
- IPM admissions are made based on the candidate’s score in an aptitude test (AT) and a writing analysis test, followed by an interview.
- IPM admissions are made based on the candidate’s score in RAT.
IIM Indore Results and Cutoff
IIM Indore offers a variety of specialisations in their PGPM courses to the students based on their CAT percentile followed by rounds GD and PI. In addition to the candidate’s CAT score, their previous academic scores are also considered during the shortlisting process which decides which of them would head for the next level of the admission process. Aspiring candidates are advised to be aware of the last years’ cutoff trends.

IIM Indore Placements
The placement process practised by IIM Indore is a student-oriented process that aims to ensure placements for the whole batch. The Student Placement Committee is elected by the student body and they act as liaisons between the administration, students and recruiters.
The placement process consists of two phases - summer placements for the first-years and final placements for the final year students.

IIM Indore Scholarship
IIM Indore provides scholarships to those SC and ST students with more than 7.5-grade-points in their first results. The maximum amount offered by the scholarship programme is INR 3 lakhs. IIM-I has also provisions for a need basis scholarship for students who are either from a financially unsteady background or those who face an unforeseen financial crisis.
