NMAT 2018 Exam Information

The NMAT is an MBA entrance exam that can grant students admission to top management programmes in India, South Africa and Philippines that accept NMAT scores. The NMAT is the official entrance exam of NMIMS, Mumbai and this exam is now registered with GMAC which is the Graduate Management Admission Council.

The NMAT exam for the academic session 2019-21 will be offered to aspirants in a testing window from Oct 4, 2018 to Dec 17, 2018 (75 days testing window).

Registrations have been open since 3rd July and will stay open till 3rd October 2018. Test-takers can send up to 5 score-reports of NMAT exam for free.

NMAT 2018 Exam Date

NMAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The NMAT by GMAC is a computer administrated test owned by the Graduate Management Global Connection India Private Limited. It is a subsidiary of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is an exam used for the admissions to some of the leading business programmes in India. It became a computer-based test only in 2005.

The exam is conducted for 2 hours of multiple-choice questions. Prior to the start of the NMAT exam, there will be a 2-minute period for the candidates to agree to the Non-disclosure Agreement, a 10- minute Tutorial and 3-minute Period for selection and sequencing.

There are 3 sections- Language skills, Quantitative skills, Logical Reasoning. Each section will be individually timed.

The candidates who appear for NMAT exam are qualified for admissions in NMIMS University and 25 other B-Schools in India which accept the NMAT Score.

The candidates have to understand the eligibility criteria before applying for the NMAT exam. The candidates of Both Indian and Foreign Origin can apply for NMAT exam. The candidates are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.

Educational Qualification:

The basic eligibility criteria for NMAT by GMAC are as follows:

  • The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or Equivalent from a recognized university
  • The candidates must secure a least 50%marks in the qualifying exam
  • Candidates who will be appearing for the final year of the qualifying exam can also apply.

NMAT 2018 Registration

  • Candidates can apply for the exam only in ONLINE mode.
  • You can register for NMAT by GMAC through the online registration application available on the official website www.nmat.org.in from 3rd of July 2018 to 3rd of October 2018.
  • GMAC will not accept registrations from test takers in any other mode or form.

Step by Step Registration

1] Register yourself on the NMAT website. Here you will need to enter personal details like Name, mobile number, email address etc. To complete the registration, validate the details via the registration confirmation email.

2] Schedule your test date and venue from available dates. NMAT exam date allocation is on first come first serve basis so it would be prudent to register as early as possible.

NMAT 2018 Exam Pattern

The NMAT by GMAC™ exam has three sections:

  1. Language Skills
  2. Quantitative Skills
  3. Logical Reasoning.

The three sections of the NMAT are individually timed. This means there is sectional cutoff time. You cannot switch between sections in any case.

No Negative Marking – attempt maximum questions!

Test takers must review their answers (within the allotted time) before moving to another section of the exam, as once the candidate closes out of a section, all answers are final.

Every test-taker will receive a unique test-paper however all will be of equal difficulty and will be scaled across sections and totals for parity.

NMAT 2018 Syllabus

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) conducts a National level management entrance exam every year called NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) for admitting students into the management courses. The administration of the exam is facilitated by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).

NMAT test design is similar to national level MBA entrance tests like CAT and XAT. The NMAT 2018 test design was separated in 3 areas in particular Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. The NMAT Exam Pattern likewise recommends that all the three sections in NMAT test are individually timed. Also, there is no negative marking in NMAT by GMAC test design

NMAT 2018 Admit Card

Candidates are required to download their NMAT Admit Card from their NMAT by GMAC account. This can be downloaded from the “Admit Card” tab provided in the NMAT by GMAC account.

NMAT Test-Day Documents

Candidates must bring the following documents to the exam centre on the test day with them:

  1. Print out of the NMAT admit card
  2. Confirmation e-mail printout and
  3. Two valid (non – expired and original) IDs – one photo ID and another signature ID from the list below :
  • Photo ID (it must contain test-taker name and photograph)
    • Passport issued by the Government of India
    • PAN Card issued by the Government of India
    • Voter’s ID Card
    • UID/Aadhaar Card
  • Signature ID (it must contain test-taker name and signature)
    • Passport issued by the Government of India
    • PAN Card issued by the Government of India
    • Debit/Credit Card
    • Driving license

NMAT 2018 Result

  • The test scores will be declared within a span of 4-5 weeks from the test delivery.
  • Candidates will be notified by email about the availability of scorecard which they can then download from the NMAT account.


  • The scores will be equated (normalised) to bring about parity between test-takers.
  • The percentile scores will be calculated after all the test takers have taken their exam(s). This will be the final NMAT result.

The final announcement of NMAT results will take place in the 3rd week of January, 2019

NMAT Cutoff

The cut off for NMAT 2018 is the minimum marks or percentile required to appear for selection process in the participating institutes of NMAT by GMAC. After the result of the online NMAT exam 2018 are declared in the 3rd week of January 2018, candidates will be shortlisted for the selection rounds. Candidates can check their NMAT result by using their user ID and password. Candidates with marks greater than the NMAT cutoff marks are selected for further rounds of the admission process. Shortlisted candidates will have to attempt for Group Discussion (GD) or Writing Ability Test (WAT) or Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds conducted by the participating institutes. The admission to the B-schools are based on merit and NMAT 2018 cutoff.

More than 20 NMAT Colleges will be declaring their individual NMAT by GMAC cut-offs both sectional and overall.

Universities like O.P. Jindal University, Bennett University, Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University are the latest additions to the list of MBA colleges accepting NMAT by GMAC scores for admission to 2019 – 20 academic session. Other than the overall cut offs of NMAT, participating colleges will also consider sectional cut offs for shortlisting the candidates for final admissions.

NMAT by GMAC cut off marks for various degree courses have remained constant during the last few years. There is no different cut off lists for different categories. However, about 30% seats in NMIMS are reserved for women.
