National Institute of Industrial Engineering is public business school formerly known as National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering, located in Mumbai.

The institute has recognised as one of the 15 Centers of Excellence along with the six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

The institute offers PG programs and Fellowship programs in Industrial Engineering and Management. Selection of all these courses depends upon NITIE CAT Cutoff.

NITIE's Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) aims to groom young managers who will not only design better procedures and systems but also manage the associated technologies successfully.

PGDIM blends classroom work and hands-on industry internship. Modeled as a general management program, PGDIM provides a holistic approach towards business, which sets it apart from similar management programs available today. 

Post Graduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management (PGDMM)   PGDMM - A Milestone in Manufacturing Endeavor  

Manufacturing plays a vital role in the economic growth of a country. The government of India has set up the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) to provide sustained growth of manufacturing industries and to enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in India (http://nmcc.nic.in). According to NMCC strategy paper, manufacturing has been recognized as the main engine for economic growth and creation of wealth.

In line with this, NITIE offers a two-year Post-Graduate Manufacturing Management Program that will facilitate students in developing their skills and decision-making capabilities in the manufacturing domain giving them a cutting edge in executing the business strategy at the manufacturing function level. It would also help in exploiting the manufacturing capability from the business competitiveness point of view. The program aims at creating professionals equipped to meet the challenges in manufacturing management.

Manufacturing converts raw materials, components, and assemblies into finished goods by employing a man-machine set-up to meet the customer's expectations. Therefore, it is essential to design and operate a manufacturing system from a customer perspective. A scientific approach to management of manufacturing function allows understanding of how production processes, people and skills within the business organization can be efficiently and effectively deployed to meet the business objectives from market competitiveness.

The program has been designed to address manufacturing issues like capacity analysis for responsiveness, facility analysis for product variety, compatibility analysis between new product design and manufacturing set-up, facilities relocation, vertical integration, waste reduction. This program facilitates in shaping students proficiency in manufacturing domain through a structured and comprehensive approach.

SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME (PGDMM)

  1. This focused program aims to develop human capital that will be capable of designing and redesigning the most effective manufacturing system as per business needs.
  2. The program would provide a multidisciplinary approach to facilitate students in grasping the need for different functions like procurement, marketing and supply chain in developing the manufacturing strategy and exploiting the manufacturing capability for achieving business competitiveness.
  3. The program would give a perspective across value spectrum through factor input market, manufacturing systems, a delivery system with specialized inputs in areas like rapid prototyping, computer integrated manufacturing, quality engineering, sustainable manufacturing, IT value in the manufacturing system, etc.

PGDPM Program Overview:

 

Project management provides the complementary skill set that blends well with other management verticals. The Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management seeks to attract graduate engineers with an attitude and aptitude seeking challenging opportunities in the dynamic business environment where management by projects has become a way of life. The program also seeks to attract graduates who are currently working at different levels of projects.

The focus of the program is to provide professionals the strategic/operational tools and techniques to execute projects, programs and portfolios. The program has been conceptualized with a view to provide students with methodologies and systematic approaches to deal with diverse industrial challenges developing Techno-Managers with cross- functional skills.

Project management post graduates will help in management, development and implementation of large investments by government and/or private industries and will also help in contributing to various internal projects. Further develop Project Managers who are responsible for the safe, timely and cost effective delivery of a broad range of projects in industry.

SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME (PGDPM)

The most distinctive aspect of PGDPM program at NITIE is the flexibility that it offers. The program will help the students contributes towards making things better, be it the processes, products or systems. The PGDPM program is for those who wish to move into project management, either in the technical or business field, or into a new field of expertise. It is suitable for those with work experience as well as those with little or no background in business or industry.

The program covers Wide spectrum of courses with focus on Functional Development, Skill Development and Perspective Development along with Program Core Courses which provide complementary skill sets that blends well for successful execution of Projects. It adopts a management based approach to entire life cycle of projects with focus on Initiation, Planning & Execution, Contract Management, and Project Finance & Risk Management.

Thus a PGDPM graduate from NITIE has seamless career opportunities in a gamut of industries viz Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Construction, Utilities, Finance & Insurance, Information Services, & Business Services.

PGPEX – VLFM is a one-year residential program jointly conducted by NITIE Mumbai and IIT Delhi for grooming the emerging leaders for Mid and Senior Level Managerial roles. The program is designed for peer learning driven pedagogy with strong focus on manufacturing technology, process and leadership. The products of this program shall be the change agents, who would provide the strategic impetus over a wide range of verticals such as Operation & Supply chain management, Strategic planning, Business development, Digital transformation & World class manufacturing.

SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM

 

This Program strengthens the curriculum with theories, tools and models of Breakthrough Management and Five Step Discovery process with workshop-oriented learning and Industrial visits in India & Abroad. It not only brings about the change in the thought process from small m to big M but also provides a vision to look at the invisible through the Third Eye.

PGPEX-VLFM is designed with a philosophy of proactive approach to the manufacturing paradigms and to create the change agents who would provide the strategic impetus for manufacturing, supply chains & operational excellence in India. VLFM program is designed for peer learning driven pedagogy with the following salient features:

  • 1030+ contact hours with strong focus on manufacturing technology, operations & supply chain and leadership
  • 8 weeks Industry Internship - India/Global & 2 weeks of International visits and Industry Treks
  • Combination of faculty from NITIE, IIT Delhi, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s Gurukul, International academia and Industry leaders.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Admissions to PGDIM and PGDISEM courses are open to full-time graduates of all branches of engineering/technology. The candidates must have aggregate 60% marks (relaxable by 5% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) and a valid CAT score.

Candidates appearing for the final year of Engineering/Technology can also apply, provided they qualify the above criteria for examinations appeared at the time of application and submit their result latest by September 30, 2020.

Application Fee for each programme is Rs.1000/-(Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) for candidates from India and SAARC countries and USD 50 for International students, plus bank charges as applicable.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Every candidate will have to qualify through the CAT (Common Admission Test) administered by the IIMs. This will be followed by a group discussion and personal interview of the shortlisted candidates to be held at NITIE, Mumbai.
