    MAT 2018 Exam Information

    MAT is an all-India level MBA Entrance exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMS). The MAT is conducted four times a year to qualify candidates for admission to around 600 B-schools across India. In 2018, MAT will be conducted in the month of February, May, September and December – in both pen and paper mode. Candidates can choose to take the exam in either/both modes.

    MAT 2018 (December attempts) will be conducted in both offline (paper-pencil) and online (computer-based) mode on Sunday 9th December and Saturday 15th December respectively.  The exam is an objective question paper with multiple choice questions (MCQs) only. Approximately 20,000 candidates appear for each session of MAT exam.

    Eligibility for MAT Exam – Graduates in any discipline are eligible to appear. Final year students of Graduate Courses can also apply.

    MAT 2018 Exam Date


    All India management association has released all the dates you should mark if you are appearing for the Management aptitude test 2019. The MAT 2019 will be held on 17th of February in offline mode whereas on 23rd February in the online mode. The admit cards for the test will be available from the 9th February 2019 and for the CBT they will be available from the 19th February. The application for MAT has been started since the 16th of December 2018 and will continue till 8th February for PBT and 12 February for the CBT. Candidates who appear for this test will be able to download their score cards in the beginning of March 2019. Candidates can also check all the important details and dates online by logging in using their candidate credentials.

    MAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

    Each year management aptitude entrance test will be conducted by All India Management Association by which the capability of the candidates who are interested to take up the management programs. Every year, MAT exam will be conducted four times i.e. February, May, September, and December months. The MAT exam is not that difficult when compared to CAT. The questions in MAT exam will be of a moderate level to easy level. Many top B-schools in India will accept MAT scores. Firstly, the candidates before applying for the MAT exam must check whether they are eligible to apply for it.

    The eligibility criteria for MAT have remained unchanged over the years. The same way it is likely to remain the same this year too. Following are the information regarding the eligibility criteria for the 2018 MAT exam:



    Age limit There is no upper age limit for MAT exam
    Educational qualification The candidates should have completed graduation or equivalent qualifying examination in order to be eligible for 2018 MAT exam.

    The graduation can be of any stream.

    The candidates appearing for final year graduation exam are also eligible to apply.

    Number of attempts AIMA has not given the number of attempts for MAT exam. So the candidates can appear for how many times they want until they fulfill the eligibility criteria.

    Foreign Nationals and NRIs also can apply for MAT 2018.

    There are no minimum percentage criteria for MAT but admission into the colleges will require a minimum percentage of marks.

    MAT 2018 Registration

    The application for MAT 2018 is available in online mode only. For MAT December 2018, the application form was made available from October 5, 2018 to November 30th (for offline exam) and 7th December 2018 (for the online exam) will be the last date to apply.

    Step 1 – New Candidate must Create Log-In ID and Password

    • New Candidates must visit the website: https://mat.aima.in/dec18 and click on the Register (New Log-In) button
    • Fill in the required details to create Log In Credentials.
    • Candidate will need to have a valid email-ID for applying online and to receive the OTP for email ID button.
    • Click “Verify & Submit” to create your Login.
    • The confirmation message for the New Login being created will be sent to your email.

    Essential documents to keep ready before filling up the MAT Registration Form:

    1. Valid Email ID (the email should be valid for at least 1 year)
    2. Image of scanned photograph in jpg format and size should be between 40kB and 100kB
    3. Scanned image of signature – size between 10kB and 40kB.
    4. Debit/Credit Card and Net Banking details

    MAT 2018 Exam Pattern

    The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts a standard aptitude test called Management Aptitude Test (MAT) since 1998. Through MAT, one can get an admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and allied programs by over 600 business schools across India. In 2003, MAT was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

    Applicants can choose to take either a computer-based test or a paper-based test. It is conducted in two languages which are English or Hindi. Eligibility is for graduates in any field. Even final year students of graduate courses can apply. The test is offered 4 times in a year in February, May, September and December. The application fee was ₹1,400 as of 2018. The MAT scores are valid only for 1 year.

    MAT 2018 Syllabus

    The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is an aptitude entrance test directed in India since 1998 by the All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT is utilized for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and unified projects by more than 600 business colleges all over India. It was accredited and accepted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in the year 2003. The exam happens at different points of time throughout the year. Competitors can take either a paper-based or an online computer-based test. It is conducted in both English and Hindi. Qualification to be able to write this exam is the acquisition of an under graduate degree of any domain of study, however final year students pursuing their undergraduate can also apply.     MAT 2018 Admit Card

    The All India Management Association (AIMA) will release the MAT 2018 Admit card separately for Offline and Online Examination. The MAT Offline Examination Admit Card will be available online from the 1st of December for the exam to be conducted on the 9th of December. The MAT Online Examination Admit Card will be available online from the 10th of December for the exam to be conducted on the 15th of December. MAT 2018 will not be sending the admit card to candidates by post.

    • Candidates must login using MAT registration number, Date of birth (DoB) or email ID to download the MAT admit card 2018. Only successfully registered candidates will be able to download their MAT Admit Cards.

    Candidates must carry the MAT 2018 admit card to the examination venue for MAT 2018 December exam. Candidates without the MAT admit card 2018 will not to be allowed to appear for the exam.

    MAT Result Online

    • Using the link above, visit MAT 2018 December exam page.
    • Candidates need to use their MAT Registration number and Roll Number to check and download the result.
    • Candidates must also select the month in which they appeared for MAT in drop down menu.
    • AIMA also sends MAT 2018 Result copy to the candidates through post.

    MAT Result on SMS

    • The facility has been provided by AIMA to check MAT Exam Result by SMS.
    • To get MAT Result on SMS, the candidate can send the following message “MATS Form No. DOB (ddmmyy)” to 54242

    The AIMA MAT score is valid for one year. 600 plus B-schools across India accept MAT score for their admission process. MAT scores will be sent to the Management Institutes selected by you during Registration. You can also opt for additional schools to receive your scores at an additional fee.

    Candidates are shortlisted first on the basis of their MAT score. Shortlisted candidates are called for the further selection process – Writing test, GD, and PI. The selection process may differ from institute to institute.

    Scoring on the MAT Exam

    MAT Result will display scores of 5 sections viz. Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning and Indian & Global Environment.

    Here are some important points about them:

    • For the subject Indian & Global Environment, a separate score is calculated on a scale of 0-100. This section is not considered while calculating the percentile score and merit position.
    • Composite score in MAT is calculated with only 4 subjects.


    MAT Cutoff

    MAT is one of the popular entrance exams for MBA admission into many reputed colleges in India. It will be conducted four times a year during February, May, September, and December. Mostly, the scores of February and December will be used by many institutes for admission of the candidates. MAT exam has a total of 200 questions with 1mark each for a total of 200 marks. Many B-schools will accept MAT scores. The cutoffs for each college vary accordingly. MAT scores will be valid for 5 years so when while applying for graduate schools; all the MAT scores for the past 5 years will be reported.

    Clearing the cutoffs for MAT is very important in order to get admission in the expected colleges. Cutoffs are the minimum scores each candidate must secure in order to get shortlisted for joining the B-schools in India. The candidates must score equal or more than the cutoff marks in order to get selected for the colleges they are willing to join for. Certain factors will influence the cutoff marks to a great extent. They are:

    • Number of candidates
    • Number of seats available
    • Number of applications received
    • Reservation norms
    • Previous year admission trends and cutoff
    • Marking scheme
