About College

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (abbreviated, XLRI) is an autonomous private management school that is located in the city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. It was established in 1949 by the Society of Jesus as a college providing courses in management of trade unions before setting up a two-year full-time course in 1953.

XLRI Jamshedpur offers a one-year-three-months long M.Sc course. The institution also offers Post Graduate Diploma Programmes with over four different specialisations. These programmes are two-years long and are considered to be equivalent to an MBA degree. There are also provisions in place for a four-year-long Fellowship Programme in over eight specialisations.

The XLRI - Xavier School of Management is headed by the eminent Ashish Kumar Pani. The college prides itself on having some of the most qualified and experienced faculties around the country. Some of the members include influential figures such as Professor Dipankar Bose of Production, Operations & Decision Sciences, MG Jomon of HR Management and PC Padhan of Economics.

In 2018, XLRI Jamshedpur ranking is tenth among all the business schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. XLRI Course and Fee Structure

The XLRI Xavier School of Management is particularly famous for its PG Diploma in Human Resource Management course. Other than this, the institution offers PG Diploma programmes in General Management, Business Management and Global Business Management. XLRI Admissions

XLRI Jamshedpur offers a range of courses in business management. These include PG Diplomas, PG Certificates, PG Programmes, an MSc programme and Fellowships. As one of India’s leading business schools, XLRI follows an intricate admission process. Admission to the XLRI programmes (PG Diploma programmes) is regulated on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Xavier’s Aptitude Test (for domestic applicants) or GMAT (for overseas applications) followed by a Writing Aptitude Test followed by an interview round. The MSc applications are made based on the candidate’s score in the institute hosted entrance exams while the Fellowship students are selected based on the strength of their profiles.

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute shortlists its prospective candidates based on their performance in either XAT or GMAT. The Institute sets up sectional cutoff percentiles or marks along with an overall cutoff. The cutoff is based on several factors such as the previous year’s cutoff percentile, the average performance at the relevant exam and the maximum marks scored in the exam among others. The candidates are requested to keep abreast of the past cutoff declarations.

XLRI Scholarships

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute was founded on the principles of providing equal opportunities in education to one and all. The college has three active scholarship programmes, which cater to over thirty students in both their first and second years. XLRI offers these scholarships on a merit-cum-needs. On a rule of thumb, the scholarships are provided to only those candidates whose gross family income is less than INR 6 lakhs, per annum. Scholarship grants shall not go over INR 2.55 lakhs.

XLRI Alumni Network

The XLRI Alumni Association has been in place since 1957 with the intention of not only helping the alumnus stay in touch with each other but also to maintain contact with them. These contacts are used to their best at the time of placements. The alumni also offers motivational talks, seminars and training sessions for the current batch of students so as to help them better understand their domicile.

XLRI Campus

Spread across nearly 200 acres between the Dalma Hills and the Tata Iron and Steel Company, the greenery is the first aspect of XLRI that catches the viewer’s attention. The campus is fitted with the best and the latest in educational infrastructure. There are six management education centres on the campus along with academic blocks, administrative buildings, residential quarters for both faculty and students as well as recreational areas and a behemothic library complex.
