The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (abbreviated, XLRI) is an autonomous private management school that is located in the city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. It was established in 1949 by the Society of Jesus as a college providing courses in management of trade unions before setting up a two-year full-time course in 1953.
XLRI Jamshedpur offers a one-year-three-months long M.Sc course. The institution also offers Post Graduate Diploma Programmes with over four different specialisations.
These programmes are two-years long and are considered to be equivalent to an MBA degree. There are also provisions in place for a four-year-long Fellowship Programme in over eight specialisations.

Admission to the XLRI programmes (PG Diploma programmes) is regulated on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Xavier’s Aptitude Test (for domestic applicants) or GMAT (for overseas applications) followed by a Writing Aptitude Test followed by an interview round.

The cutoff is based on several factors such as the previous year’s cutoff percentile, the average performance at the relevant exam and the maximum marks scored in the exam among others. The candidates are requested to keep abreast of the past cutoff declarations.

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute was founded on the principles of providing equal opportunities in education to one and all. The college has three active scholarship programmes, which cater to over thirty students in both their first and second years.
XLRI offers these scholarships on a merit-cum-needs. On a rule of thumb, the scholarships are provided to only those candidates whose gross family income is less than INR 6 lakhs, per annum. Scholarship grants shall not go over INR 2.55 lakhs.
XLRI Alumni Network
The XLRI Alumni Association has been in place since 1957 with the intention of not only helping the alumnus stay in touch with each other but also to maintain contact with them. These contacts are used to their best at the time of placements.
The alumni also offers motivational talks, seminars and training sessions for the current batch of students so as to help them better understand their domicile.
