About College

The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (also known as, IIM-Lucknow and IIM-L) is an autonomous government-funded business school located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It was established by the Govt. of India as the fourth Indian Institute of Management in 1984. The Ministry of Human Resource Development considers the institute as an “Institution of Excellence”.

IIM Lucknow offers Post-Graduate Programmes, Fellowships and Executive Programmes in management. The institute has a special one year full-time MBA programme that is exclusively taught at the Noida campus. The PG Programmes are all two years long.

The first year stretches from June to March in three ten-week trimesters which is followed by a two-month internship. Specialisations are introduced in the final year.

Chaired by Tata Sons COO, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, IIM-L boasts some of the brightest minds in management among its faculty members. These include the likes of veteran educators such as Sanjay K Singh, Neeraj Dwivedi and Amit Mookerji in charge of overseeing the day to day education of the students.

IIM Lucknow was ranked fourth among all the management institutions in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). All of the college’s programmes are certified by the Association of MBAs which is headquartered in London.

IIM Lucknow Courses and IIM Lucknow Fees Structure

IIM Lucknow courses include three full-time residential, two yearlong Post-Graduate Programmes in Management, Agri-business Management and Sustainable Management. There is a partly residential full MBA programme for working executive managers along with Fellowship programmes and short-term MDP and Executive courses. All of these programmes have been vetted and accredited by the Association of MBAs, London.

IIM Lucknow Admission Process

IIM Lucknow admission procedure is regulated by a system that judges the candidate on the basis of multiple criteria. This is the reason IIM Lucknow admission procedure is considered difficult. For entry to the PG Programme, the candidate has to match the CAT percentile cutoff set by IIM-L.

Following which, they have the IIM Lucknow Admission Test which includes a writing ability test, a personal interview and a group discussion round. Admission to other courses follows a similar process except that each course accepts the valid results of a particular set of aptitude exams.

  • The Post-Graduate Programmes (PGP, PGP-ABM and PGP-SM) provided by IIM-L only accepts candidates on the basis of their CAT scores.
  • The International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) takes in students based on their GMAT marks.
  • The Working Managers' Programme (WMP) considers a valid score in CAT, XAT, GATE or GMAT.
  • The Fellowship Programmes shortlist the candidates for IIM Lucknow admission based on their performance in CAT, GRE, GATE or GMAT.


IIM Lucknow Placement

IIM Lucknow placement activities are primarily student-oriented. In order to support the IIM Lucknow placement process, it has a Career Development Council. The main objective of this committee is to keep in touch with corporate houses.

The students are provided summer internships and NGO internship, among others under the guidance of the Council. The organisation provides valuable advice, suggestion and resources to secure a 100% placement record.

IIM Lucknow Result and Cutoff

IIM Lucknow takes in 1,100 students every year across its various courses while the number of applicant’s number in thousands. IIM-L declares their cutoff percentile after the declaration of the CAT results. The cutoff percentile is calculated on the basis of a number of factors.

The candidates are reminded to take note of the last years’ cutoff percentiles. Based on the trends of the past few years, the CAT cutoff for General category will remain 90 percentiles.

The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow prides on having an affluent alumni network all across India and the world.

The official alumni network assists the former students to keep in touch amongst themselves as well as the current batch of students. The IIM-L alumni include high profile figureheads such as social & RTI activist and IPS Officer, Amitabh Thakur.


IIM Lucknow Scholarship

IIM Lucknow has four different scholarship schemes active. There is a merit-cum-means programme that provides scholarships to meritorious students with more than 7.5-grade-points in their first results. Students from SC, ST or OBC backgrounds are provided scholarships and financial subsidies.

These programmes are government sponsored. IIM-L has also partnered with the Central Bank, the State Bank of India and Axis Bank to provide subsidised interest rates on loans availed by IIM-L candidates.


IIM Lucknow Campus

The IIM-L campus lies spanning across 200 acres in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The campus consists of administrative offices, academic blocks, student and faculty accommodation, a plaza, a library complex, two management development centres, an auditorium, as well as, multiple eateries and food outlets and sports and recreation facilities along with merchandise stores.
