Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2020

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level B-school admission entrance examination. From 2019, CMAT is to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The CMAT score is accepted by all All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) -Approved Institutions or University Depts., Constituent Colleges and Affiliated Colleges.

The application form for CMAT 2020 Registration will be released from 1st November 2019 and the CMAT will be conducted on 24th January 2020.

CMAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • Anyone holding Bachelors degree (graduation) in any discipline can apply for CMAT exam.
  • Final year students of Graduate Courses (12 + 3) can also apply for CMAT. Note that only those whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2019-20 are eligible.

CMAT 2020 Registration

CMAT 2020 application forms will be available from 22nd October 2018 onwards on the NTA website.

  • Application is to be made in ON-LINE Mode only.
  • No offline submission of Application Form will be taken into account.

CMAT Application Process

Step 1: Registration

  • First applicants must log on to the CMAT Official Website
  • Before applying, make sure you have a valid email address and phone number.
  • Step 1: Register yourself as a New User. You will need to complete Self Registration which is submitting some basic details about yourself.
  • After clicking Submit, you cannot make any changes to this information.
  • On Submitting a unique 6 digit password will be generated – it will be displayed on screen, and communicated via message and email.
  • For all subsequent logins, you can choose Existing User option and use the 6 digit password to logins.

Step 2: Payment of CMAT Fee

Candidates have two options for this:

i) ONLINE PAYMENT

  • Payment can be done using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking
  • On successful completion of payment, you will receive a confirmation E-mail and SMS.

ii) CASH Payment in SBI bank

  • Print 3 copies of Challan
  • Fill in required details on the Challan
  • Deposit challan along with cash amount at SBI branch
  • Cash Deposit will be accepted only from the next day of your Challan generation (eg: If I generate challan on 24th, payment can only be done on 25th)
  • In 48 hours you will receive confirmation mail/SMS.

CMAT 2020 Exam Pattern

CMAT follows a set exam pattern. As per last year (2018), there will be no change in CMAT Exam Pattern. Aspirants can check the exam pattern elaborated below.

Mode of paper: Computer-based. (Online mode)

Duration of this exam: 3 hours or 180 minutes

Maximum marks: 400 marks

Total number of questions: 100 questions

Question type: Objective type (MCQ)

Marking Scheme

  • Duration of test is 180 minutes (3 hours)
  • 4 marks will be allotted to every correct answer.
  • Negative marking – for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.
  • No deducting and allotting of marks in case of unanswered questions.

Tip: Students must take the Online Trial Test through which they will get familiar with the exam pattern and the marking scheme. Students will get a clearer picture of layout, design and navigation functionality for the CMAT 2020.

CMAT 2020 Syllabus

CMAT consists of the 4 sections – Quantitative Techniques, English Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and General Awareness. The broad topics covered under the sections are as follows –

Quantitative Techniques:  Number Systems, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Distance, Time & Work, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Pipes & Cistern, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Quadratic & Linear Equation, Line graph, Pie Chart, Bar Graph, and Partnership.

Logical Reasoning: Linear Arrangements, Statements Arguments & Assumptions, Sequencing, Matrix Arrangements, Number Series, Analogy Test, Blood Relations, Coding and Decoding, Inferences, Statements and Conclusion, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Symbol Based Problems, Direction, Distance, and Ranking.

English: Vocabulary, Para Jumble, Paragraph Completion, Error finding, One- word Substitution, Synonyms & Antonyms, and Reading Comprehensions.

General Awareness: General awareness is a very vast section. Basically, it focuses on the current affairs. Keep yourself up to date with the latest news and events.

CMAT 2020 Admit Card

The CMAT 2020 exam is one of the most important management exams for graduate students. The candidates have to work very hard and practice mock tests as well. The most important document that will be required to give this exam is the admit card. The admit card of the candidate is the only proof that the candidate has applied for the exam and has paid the fee as well. If the candidate forgets to bring their admit card to the examination center, he or she will not be allowed to write the exam. The candidates are advised to have at least two printed copies of the admit card with them at the examination center.

The admit card will be provided only to those candidates who have completed the application as required and submitted the application before the last date mentioned that is 7th of December 2018.

The candidates are required to follow the following steps to download their admit card.

  • Open the admit card download link available on the official website.
  • Enter the required details like; username, password, email id etc.
  • The screen will display the CMAT 2020 admit card of the candidate.
  • At the end of the screen will be a ‘download admit card’ option which is to be clicked by the candidate.

The candidate is advised to take a print out of the admit card as well and provide it when asked at the examination hall.

The candidate can choose three centers according to their preference. The CMAT exam is held in many cities all over India and the candidate can choose the center closest to them. Few of the exam centers are named below.

CMAT 2020 Result

  • The Result of CMAT 2020 will be released online on the official website of NTA. The results can be expected in the first week of February.
  • In the Score Card, candidates will be able to view their absolute score as well as percentile (for both sectional and overall score). Every test-takers ranks will receive details about their rank.
  • CMAT Scores are valid for one academic year, i.e., 2019 to 2020.
  • Candidates who get shortlisted after CMAT will be called for interview rounds in respective college depending on prescribed cutoff.

CMAT Cutoff

CMAT scores are used to determine cutoff criteria for 950 – 1000 B-Schools. Many prestigious MBA Programmes such as that of K J Somaiya, JBIMS, PUMBA, IFMR, N L Dalmiya accept CMAT scores.
