About College

The Management Development Institute is a business school based in Gurgaon, Haryana. The college was set up in 1973 by the Industrial Finance Corporations with its location being one of the busiest business hubs in the country. A second campus had been inaugurated by former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on August 24, 2014, near Murshidabad, West Bengal.

MDI Gurgaon offers three Post Graduate Programmes in Management, Human Resources and International Management. There is also the option to pursue one of the four Executive Post Graduate Programmes. Practising managers can pursue the one and a half year long certification course known as the Management Development Programmes. Fellowship positions are available to researchers willing to work with the institute.

Chaired by the esteemed Dr Emandi Sankara Rao and led by director, Dr Atmanand, MDI Gurgaon has one of the most esteemed and knowledgeable faculties among its peers. They consider their seventy nationally and internationally acclaimed full-time faculty members to be their strongest asset.

The Management Development Institute became the first ever Indian business school to get an international accreditation when it was accredited by the Association of MBAs, London in 2005. It also holds a South Asian Quality Assurance System certification also awarded in 2005 by the Association’s International Accreditation Advisory Board. The college was ranked 12 among business management schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework.

MDI Gurgaon Courses and Fee Structure

MDI Gurgaon offers full-time Post Graduate Programmes in specialisations along with four Executive Post Graduate Programmes. The school has special programmes under the banner of “Continuing Education” which help practising managers get official accreditation from a nationally recognised college. For scholars researching into business management disciplines, MDI has a  fellowship programme.

MDI Gurgaon Admission Process

The admission process at MDI Gurgaon is an extensive one. It is available both online and offline. The eligibility to both the Post Graduate and the Executive Post Graduate Programmes is that the applicant must have scored at least 50% marks on aggregate in their Bachelor’s degree programme. For the research course, the candidate must have completed their Master’s degree with at least 55% marks.

In case of the PGPs and the E-PGPs, should the candidate match the minimum eligibility criteria required by the institute, they have to submit their valid scores for any of the National Level Management Entrance Examinations (NLMEE). A cutoff list is prepared by the institute and those who match the criteria are invited for a round of group discussion and personal interview.

PGP-Management, PGP-Human Resource Management

Eligibility: The candidate must have obtained a minimum of three years long Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA in any discipline. 

Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their CAT or equivalent exam’s score followed by a round of group discussion and personal interview.

PGP-Public Policy Management

Eligibility: The candidate must be an officer of All India Services or Central Services and they must have put in at least seven years of Group “A” categorised service.

The State Civil Service Officers who are applying must have put in at least nine years of Group “A” service.

 Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their performance in a personal interview.

PGP-International Management

Eligibility: The candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks or its equivalent value in CGPA in both 10 and 12 levels along with a Masters or a Bachelors degree (4 years minimum) with at least 50% marks.

Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their CAT or equivalent exam’s score followed by a round of group discussion and personal interview.

PGP-Management (Part-time)

Eligibility: The candidate must have at least a minimum of three years of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university. It is recommended that the candidate have post qualification executive work experience of at least three years

Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam followed by a round of personal interview.

PGP-Energy Management, National Management Programme

Eligibility: The candidate must have at least a minimum of three years of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university. It is recommended that the candidate have post qualification executive work experience of at least five years as of December of the current year.

Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their CAT or equivalent exam’s score followed by a round of group discussion and personal interview.

Fellowship Programme in Management

Eligibility: The candidate must have a Master’s degree programme with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent GPA with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification. Alternatively, the candidate can have a five-year integrated (Bachelor’s+Master’s) degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks.

Selection Process: The candidate’s eligibility is judged on the basis of their performance in the NLMEE of their choice followed by a round of personal interview.

MDI Gurgaon Placements

The Management Development Institute, Gurgaon has some of the most effective placement infrastructures in India. In fact, the standard of the placement cell is at par and even exceeds some of the IIM’s around the country. MDI has recorded an almost 100% placement record over the course of the last five years. This year saw all the students of the 2017-19 batch get placed by mid-January, 2019. MDI reported that 237 students took part in the placement process which involved 106 companies. Deloitte USI was the biggest recruiter on campus with 16 offers.

MDI Gurgaon Results and Cutoff

MDI Gurgaon is one of India’s most exclusive business schools with its students being expected to be of exceptional merit. While calculating the cutoff, MDI Gurgaon takes the following weightage values. The overall NLEEE score is given 55% weightage. The application score which includes the candidate’s 10 and (10+2) levels as well as their academic and gender diversity, as well as their work experience, is given 15% weightage. Lastly, the candidate’s performance in the GD+PI rounds is given 30% weightage.

MDI Gurgaon Alumni Association

The Alumni Association at MDI Gurgaon consists of some of the most illustrious names in the industry. This association has members the likes of Anil Sardana, the CEO of Tata Power, Ganesh Mani, the VP of Productions at Hyundai Motors India Limited and Ajay Atreya who is the Vice President of TCS E-Serve Limited. The Alumni Network keeps track of the various former MDI students via social media and attempts to cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship between institution and alumnus.

MDI Gurgaon Scholarships

MDI Gurgaon has two scholarship schemes which are available for its students. One programme is aimed at students going for a student exchange trip abroad with any of MDI’s European partner institutions. The other programme is rewarded to students on a merit-cum-need basis. The amount awarded for the latter scholarship is INR 1,25,000.

MDI Gurgaon Campus

MDI has an enormous campus sprawling across 37 acres in Gurgaon, Haryana. It is only 12 kilometres away from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The campus with its tree-dotted green environment with intermittent brick red buildings gives off a quiet charm. The campus has all the facilities expected from a modern institution. The buildings are air conditioned and not only does the campus have classrooms, libraries and computer centres but also has fully furnished residencies for students as well as executive suites. For recreational activities, there is a golf course and floodlit badminton, tennis and a basketball court.
