About the college:

Spread over about 112.5 acres of land, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is situated on two hillocks in the Kunnamangalam Area of the ancient city of Calicut in Kerala. Boasting one of the most picturesque and oxy-rich campuses in the country, the world-class infrastructure includes air-conditioned classrooms, guest care areas and LAN/WAN connectivity which enables every IIMK resident to be exposed to a wholesome experience. Managed by a dedicated regular administrative staff of 67, it is one of the most efficient Institutions in the country, which knows how to keep the balance sheet green and keep all the stakeholders happy.

With its roots dating back to 1997, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, started with a batch of 42 students but has grown tremendously over the years with a current batch strength of 356 odd students, making it the fastest-growing management school in the country.

IIMK pioneered the Interactive-Learning (I-L) Program for working executives in India. The interactive learning programme started with 300 class contact hours in 2001-02, the two-year-long Executive Management Education Programme is today the most rigorous available in the country having around 738 class contact hours.

The institute moved to its new campus in January 2003 and the number of programs increased manifold with this step. The training activity is expected to witness further growth with the latest 64 room executive hostel and the construction of a modern 200-bed management development complex. The Institute today is a leader in Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), conducting the largest number of programmes (18) totalling 20 weeks in 2008-09, and is the major QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Centre of the All Indian Council of Technical Education, in the field of management education.

The Institute started its Fellow (Doctoral) Programme in Management in 2007 to complete a full range of educational services expected from an Institution of higher learning and is also taking a new initiative to give impetus to the post-doctoral research activities in the management field, dedicating over 30000 sq. ft. in library space for it, and creating a 300 people strong capacity for boarding and lodging facilities in summers. The Institute takes pride in conducting various National and International Conferences and has conducted 15 conferences in the last 5 years, truly living up to its motto of 'Globalizing Indian Thought'. Furthermore, the Institute has also started taking Consulting Assignments, revenue from which crossed the Rs. 10 million marks in 2007.

IIMK is also one of the few Centres for the Development of Digital Libraries in the world and is a country leader. A prominent achievement that comes to the limelight is the establishment of an Incubation Centre for Excellence, in collaboration with the Government of Kerala to help the Scheduled Castes/tribes students overcome their deficiencies in communication, personality etc. Incidentally, IIMK is one of the few management institutes in the country that have filled the full quota of SC/ST candidates in its Postgraduate Programme on regular basis with a sound track record in job placement. With a highly qualified and experienced faculty, and backed by a large number of committed adjunct and visiting faculty from Industry and other leading management institutes including foreign universities, academics is always a high priority.

The Institute has a strong International Exchange Programme for students and faculty with several leading Management Institutes in EU and ASEAN countries like SDA, Bacconi, Jonkoping, Sweden, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, ESCAP-EAP, France; University of Queensland, Austria, Victoria University of Wellington and so on. An active member of the Strategic Management Forum, IIMK lays stress on organizing Seminar/Conferences and conducts management programs for teachers. Leading Management Institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore and Lucknow along with MDI, Gurgaon, XLRI, Jamshedpur and IIFT, New Delhi join hands to conduct a week-long faculty development programme on various subjects in the field of Strategic Management.

IIM Kozhikode Alumni Network

With over 5,000 alumni members occupying various top executive and managerial positions in a wide range of companies such as Google, Vodafone, Accenture and Deloitte, the IIM-K Alumni Network boasts a sundry and spirited network.

The Alumni Network aims to cultivate productive relationships between the alumnus and the institution in hopes that it proves to be mutually beneficial.

IIM-K boasts alumnus figures such as entrepreneur and founder of Med2house, Balagopal Kesavmenon, the Strategy Consultant at McKinsey and Company, Ronald Phillip and Co-founder of FACE Bangalore, Rajesh Kumar.

IIM Kozhikode Scholarship Programmes

There are 13 different scholarship programmes active at IIM-K. These programmes offer means of financial aid to the candidates who deserve it.

This factor is based on means-cum-necessity criteria. Usually, to apply in the majority of these scholarship programmes, a candidate needs to be from an economically challenged background (the gross annual family income must be less than INR 6 lakhs) as well as maintain an 8 CGPA grade.

There are many scholarships, which are provided by private sponsors. The private sponsors set up their own eligibility criteria.  

IIM Kozhikode Campus

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode spans 97 acres in Kochi, Kerala. The campus lies close to the metropolitan areas with all its facilities such as hospitals, departmental stores and recreation areas. The campus provides separate living accommodations for both men and women.

The institute offers all the infrastructural facilities that can be expected from a member of the IIM family. There are options for co-curricular, extra-curricular and a range of pedagogic activities.

The campus consists of academic centres such as a library, classrooms, IT labs and auditoriums. Furthermore, the campus is networked to the internet via a wireless setup that is active twenty-four hours a day.

1. What is the type of hostel accommodation provided to the PGP-BL students?
The students of PGP-BL will be provided accommodation in Air Conditioned, bath-attached rooms on twin sharing basis.

2. How many Admission cycles are there for PGP-BL?

  • There are three phases for PGP-BL Admissions. You can apply in any one of the phases.
  • *Phase 1 opens in May, 2022 and closes on 30th June 2022
  • *Phase 2 opens on 1st July 2022 and closes on 31st August 2022
  • *Phase 3 opens on 1st September 2022 and closes on 20th November 2022

3. What is the profile of candidates that IIMK seeks to admit into this programme?
IIMK seeks to admit into the programme young professionals who possess good analytical and reasoning skills, superior communication abilities, sound general awareness and exhibit strong leadership potential.

4. Will I get alumni status of IIM Kozhikode after completing the PGP-BL?
Yes. Upon successful completion of the programme, student will be an alumnus of IIM Kozhikode. Alumni membership fee would be applicable.

5. What certificate will I get at the end of the PGP-BL programme?

The form of the final award in the full-time, one-year, residential post graduate management programmes that follow an MBA curriculum, as offered by IIMs (PGPBL, PGPX, MBAEx etc) is currently under discussion with the MoE, Govt of India, following a related advice from the latter in 2020. This is a matter that equally would apply to all similar/comparable programmes at IIMs. Accordingly, upon successful completion of the programme, the final certificate awarded will depend on the final decision of the Government and could be a Post Graduate Diploma in Management , MBA degree, etc.
