MBA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the MBA (PGP) 2026 at IIM Visakhapatnam must:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA).

• Candidates in the final year of graduation are also eligible to apply, subject to meeting the eligibility requirements at the time of admission.

MBA Selection Criteria

IIM Visakhapatnam follows a three-stage admission process for MBA admissions, comprising CAT-based shortlisting, Personal Interview (PI), and preparation of the final merit list.

Phase 1: Initial Shortlisting Based on CAT Scores

• Candidates must secure the minimum sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2025 (used for Admission 2026).

• Applicants must also obtain a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all CAT sections.

Minimum CAT Cutoff for Phase 1 Shortlisting

Candidates who selected Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam as a preference during CAT 2025 registration and meet the above cutoffs will receive an email (tentatively by the third week of January 2026) with a link to apply for admission to the PGP 2026–28 batch.

Phase 2: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)

For all Qualified Confirmed Candidates, a pre-PI composite score is calculated using the following components:

• CAT score

• Class 10 marks

• Class 12 marks

• Bachelor’s degree marks

• Gender diversity

• Work experience / professional qualification

Based on this composite score, candidates are shortlisted for the Personal Interview.

Important Note:

Candidates shortlisted for PI by IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, or IIM Indore (for their PGP/PGPM programmes) are exempted from appearing in a separate PI at IIM Visakhapatnam.

Candidates not shortlisted by these IIMs are required to attend the IIM Visakhapatnam PI.

Phase 3: Personal Interview & Final Merit List

After standardisation of PI scores, the final aggregate score is prepared using the following weightage:

• Personal Interview – 48%

• CAT score – 25%

• Class 10 marks – 4%

• Class 12 marks – 4%

• Bachelor’s degree marks – 4%

• Gender diversity (Female & Transgender) – 5%

• Work experience – 10%

The final admission offers are made based on this aggregate score.

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam Executive MBA Admission 2026

IIM Visakhapatnam offers a two-year Executive MBA (EMBA) programme designed for experienced working professionals. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks and possess at least 3 years of full-time work experience. The programme is open exclusively to Indian nationals residing in India.

Executive MBA Selection & Admission Process 2026

Admission to the EMBA 2026–28 batch is conducted through a three-stage selection process, as outlined below:

Phase 1: Eligibility-Based Shortlisting

Candidates are shortlisted based on the details provided in the online application form and the supporting documents submitted. Only applicants who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria are considered for the next stage.

Phase 2: EMAT and Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) conducted by the institute.

• Candidates with valid CAT, GMAT, or GRE scores may be exempted from EMAT, as per institute norms.

• Appearing for EMAT/CAT/GRE/GMAT is mandatory but does not automatically guarantee a Personal Interview call.

• The institute reserves the right to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) based on programme capacity and the overall applicant pool.

• Both EMAT and PI are conducted online, and detailed communication is shared with shortlisted candidates after the application deadline.

Phase 3: Final Selection & Offer of Admission

Final admission offers are made based on a composite score, calculated using the following weightage:

• EMAT score – 47.5%

• Personal Interview – 47.5%

• Gender diversity (Female & Transgender) – 5%

Candidates securing the required composite score are issued offer letters for admission to the Executive MBA programme.

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam Executive PGDPM Admission 2026

IIM Visakhapatnam offers a one-year Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management (EPGDPM) programme, specially designed for officers and executives working in the defence production ecosystem. The programme is delivered in a hybrid mode, enabling working professionals to balance academic learning with professional responsibilities.

EPGDPM Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must fulfil all of the following requirements to be eligible for the EPGDPM programme:

• Educational Qualification:
  
  A recognised Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.

• Employment Status:
  
  Candidates must be on the regular (full-time) rolls of the Department of Defence Production (Ministry of Defence, Government of India), Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), or private-sector defence enterprises.

• Work Experience:
  
  A minimum of five years of full-time post-qualification work experience at the officer/executive level or above. Experience gained through part-time, clerical, or apprenticeship roles is not considered.

• Remaining Service Tenure (for Government/PSU employees only):
  
  Applicants must have at least 15 years of service remaining at the time of application. This condition does not apply to candidates from the private defence sector.

EPGDPM Selection Criteria

The selection process for the EPGDPM programme consists of the following stages:

1. Initial Shortlisting

Candidates are shortlisted based on their eligibility criteria and application details.

2. Online Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants must undergo an online evaluation process, which includes:

• Online Proctored Aptitude Test:
  
  The test assesses Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA).

  • Duration: 75 minutes

  • Total Questions: 60 (20 per section)

  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark per question

• Online Personal Interview:
  
  Candidates appearing for the aptitude test will be invited for an online personal interaction with an expert interview panel.

• Statement of Purpose (SoP):
  
  Applicants must submit an SoP of up to 250 words, explaining their motivation for joining the programme and the expected benefits for themselves and their organization.

The final selection is based on a composite evaluation of:

• Performance in the online aptitude test

• Personal Interview score

• Assessment of the Statement of Purpose (SoP)

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam PhD Admission 2026

IIM Visakhapatnam offers a full-time PhD programme with a maximum duration of five years. Admission to the doctoral programme is based on national-level entrance test scores, followed by a Personal Interview conducted by the institute.

PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil any one of the following eligibility conditions:

• Master’s Degree Pathway:
  
  A Master’s degree (after a Bachelor’s degree in the 10+2+3 pattern) or a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in any discipline, with a minimum of 55% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

OR

• Professional Qualification Pathway:
  
  Professional qualifications such as CA / ICWA / CS with at least 50% marks, along with a B.Com or equivalent degree with 55% marks.

OR

• Integrated Bachelor’s Degree Pathway:
  
  A four-year / eight-semester Bachelor’s degree (10+2+4 pattern) with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or equivalent.

Note:

For the Production and Operations Management area, candidates must hold a graduation and/or post-graduation degree in Science, Mathematics, Management, or Engineering.
