Q. Being an MBA student of IIM, do I need to take the CAT again for IIM Calcutta doctoral Program?

A. If you have scored a CGPA of 6.00 out of 9.00 and/or equivalent and above in your MBA, you need not have to appear in CAT entrance. You are eligible to apply directly through an online process. If the aforesaid criteria are not met, you have to take CAT or other prescribed examinations to get into DPM at IIM Calcutta.

A. Over and above the programme fees which is INR 33.50 Lacs for IIM Calcutta MBA Ex Program, it has to be noted that other charges such as for food, electricity, expenses of personal nature are not included under these fees and will have to be borne by the individual students 

A. IIM Calcutta is the first B school in the country to receive all 3 accreditation – AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The B School has high RoI in terms of its batch size and placement. During its final placement 2022, the IIM Calcutta students achieved 100% placements with an Average Salary of INR 34.2 LPA and the Median Salary of INR 31 LPA. The institute also includes 80+ permanent faculties having a student faculty ratio of 10:1.

A. At IIM Calcutta, the major mainly depends on the number of courses opted by a student of a particular stream. Hence, you can major in two functional areas in a programme offered by the B School by the prudent choice of 9 optional courses.

A. Yes, you can be eligible for the IIM Calcutta DPM course even if you are a final year appearing student of Engineering. However, when shortlisted, you shall be provisionally offered admission till you furnish all the necessary documents. The deadline for furnishing the final year documents is 31st December of the year of admission.

A. There is no minimum GMAT score required for MBA Ex application at IIM Calcutta. The institute will shortlist the applicants through a rigorous selection process based on their relative ranking, GMAT score, academic background, professional experience, personal interview, statement of purpose and recommendation letters from two referees.

A. No, work experience is not compulsory for seeking admission into IIM Calcutta. However, there is no denying the fact that relevant work experience adds extra weightage to a candidate's profile when applying for IIM Calcutta MBA admission.

A. The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) – jointly offered by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur, and ISI. PGDBA is a two-year full-time residential diploma program aimed at creating business analytics professionals employable by leading Indian and foreign firms. This program is designed for those who have an analytical mindset, are interested in tackling challenging business problems, and possess an inclination towards mathematics. As such, it is a different program in comparison to the MBA general course.

A. Yes, you are eligible for the course. GMAT/ GRE score is not mandatory for taking admission in the course. If you have the score, it will be treated as a part of your academic record. However, the institute selects candidates only on the basis of aptitude tests at the institute level.

A. You do not have to take the CAT if you have secured a CGPA of 6 out of 9 or equivalent. You can directly apply if you meet the requirements otherwise you will have to give CAT again. 

A. GMAT scores in IIMC are valid for two years from the date of taking the test. GMAT can be taken  8 times in your life without any age limit. Meanwhile, CAT scores are only valid for 1 year and a minimum of 50% is required to be eligible for the test.
