NMAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The NMAT by GMAC is a computer administrated test owned by the Graduate Management Global Connection India Private Limited. It is a subsidiary of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is an exam used for the admissions to some of the leading business programmes in India. It became a computer-based test only in 2005.

The exam is conducted for 2 hours of multiple-choice questions. Prior to the start of the NMAT exam, there will be a 2-minute period for the candidates to agree to the Non-disclosure Agreement, a 10- minute Tutorial and 3-minute Period for selection and sequencing.

There are 3 sections- Language skills, Quantitative skills, Logical Reasoning. Each section will be individually timed.

The candidates who appear for NMAT exam are qualified for admissions in NMIMS University and 25 other B-Schools in India which accept the NMAT Score.

The candidates have to understand the eligibility criteria before applying for the NMAT exam. The candidates of Both Indian and Foreign Origin can apply for NMAT exam. The candidates are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.

Educational Qualification:

The basic eligibility criteria for NMAT by GMAC are as follows:

  • The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or Equivalent from a recognized university
  • The candidates must secure a least 50%marks in the qualifying exam
  • Candidates who will be appearing for the final year of the qualifying exam can also apply.

NMAT Eligibility criteria for courses in NMIMS campuses:

Campuses Educational qualification
ICFAI Business school Candidates must have completed graduation with at least 50% marks with medium of instruction as English.
Thapar school of management Must have completed graduation/post-graduation in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks or CGPA or grade from any recognized university.
Amrut Mody school management Candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) or equivalent CGPA, of any university
MISB Bocconi Candidates must have at least 50% marks across 10th, 12th, and graduation.
Shiv Nadar Must have completed graduation degree or equivalent, with at least 50% mark or equivalent CGPA from any of the recognized universities, deemed universities, and institutions of national importance or from a professional body including ICSI, ICAI, ICWAI etc.
GITAM school of international business Candidates must have completed second class or equivalent in any graduation from recognized university/intuitions.

The eligibility criteria for NMAT for different courses may vary from institute to institute.

College Courses
NMIMS campuses

MBA (Mumbai Campus) – Candidates should have full-time bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate in first attempts.

Candidates who have finished their graduation through correspondence or part-time or distance learning mode are not eligible to apply.

MBA HR (Mumbai Campus) – Must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in the first attempt.

Candidates who have finished their graduation through or correspondence or part-time or distance learning mode are not eligible to apply.

MBA Pharmaceutical Management (Mumbai Campus) – Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, life science, MBBS, BDS, science, BHMS, BAMS, B.Sc, M.Sc in biotechnology from a recognized university, with at least 50% marks in the first attempt.

Candidates who have a post-graduate degree in Psychology, Sociology, Economics, are also eligible to apply for NMAT.

Candidates with B.tech, B.E in biotech or Bio-medical are also eligible to apply.

The institute prefers who have experience in working in pharmaceutical companies for more than 2 years.

Candidates who have finished their graduation through correspondence or part-time or distance learning mode are not eligible to apply.

PGDM (Bengaluru Campus and Hyderabad campus) – Must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the first attempt.

Candidates who have finished their graduation through correspondence or part-time or distance learning mode are not eligible to apply.

The Institutes usually prefer candidates with experience for at least 2 years for most full-time management programmes.

The Number of Attempts: There is no number of attempts for NMAT by GMAC.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 25 years for all the registrants.
