National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET UG 2023

Abbreviated as national eligibility cum entrance test, is an entrance exam for students who wish to pursue a career in medicine by enrolling to courses such as MBBS, MD, BDS and MDS. For undergraduates, NEET is currently conducted by central board of secondary education (CBSE). It was started in 2013 and still continued for admitting students. Physics, chemistry and biology are the subjects on which students are tested and the exam is known for its high difficulty. It is considered as one of the largest exams in India for medical and dental course entrance.

Unlike other exams, NEET also has certain eligibility criteria to be followed by medical aspirants. NEET does not accept application from ineligible students. So, it is mandatory for every aspirant to go through the eligibility criteria of NEET 2023 provided in the later part of this article.

As this is a national level exam, it is advisable to go through the previous year question paper to get acquainted with the exam pattern. Also, student should organize their study after going through the syllabus. A strategic revision is also necessary in this situation. Many undergraduate students might be dreaming to take admission in top medical colleges, remember that NEET is the most preferred gateway for the same.

NEET UG Exam Date 2023

The NEET exam will be conducted on 7th May 2023 on Sunday. Notifications regarding the latest updates are posted on the CBSE websites from time to time. This includes all the official notifications, important dates, steps to follow, result display and other relevant notifications related to the exam.

Following are important dates for the exam which candidates are requested to go through. Missing of any important deadline will result in failure of processing applications by the authorities. Any request for extension in mentioned dates will not be entertained and following the declared dates will be mandatory to all the candidates.

NEET UG Exam Pattern 2023

The entrance examination cell contains 1 paper in all languages having about 180 objective questions. There will be 4 options for each question. The questions will be based on physics chemistry biology (botany and zoology). The candidate is required to answer on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using ballpoint pen provided by the examination center only. Under no circumstances will candidate use his own pen. The duration of the test will be 3 hours.

NEET UG 2023 Admit Card

Candidates will be able to download admit card of NEET on the website from 3rd May 2023. Post downloading of the admit card candidates are required to follow the instructions given. Please note that admit card will not be sent by post but it will be sent by email on the registered email id the admit card will have roll number name of the candidate father’s name category subcategory signature date of the birth language of question paper name and address of examination center that has been chosen. The candidate should carefully verify the admit card.

  • Exam Centers:

Candidates must ensure that they should select the center in their state of residence or in neighboring city only and not in faraway cities in other states. In case, instructions are not complied with, CBSE may allot the centers different from the choice given or cancel the candidature.

NEET UG Result 2023

The results of NEET 2023 will be displayed online. The results will be announced in June 2023.

Before the display of the results and answer key will be declared. the candidates will have an option of challenging the answer key against the fees of rupees 1000 per answer. The candidates will have to stay in touch via the website for the declaration of dates of answer keys upload. The answers that have been challenged will be studied and scrutinized by CBSE along with the subject experts.

There will be a window when candidates can challenge the answer key the key will be finalized after the challenge and there will be no change in the final key, however, there is no information given to candidates if the result and challenge have been accepted or declined. All the candidates are advised to remain in touch with the website for downloading of admit cards, answer keys and results.

The result will be hosted on the website www.cbseNEET.nic.in and the merit list will be prepared in accordance with DGHS, MCI, and DCI. The merit list will not be prepared according to the categories.  As soon as the results are declared, candidates are advised to download the results. After the results of been hosted the candidates will have an option to download the results from the website. The candidates are advised to remain in touch with the website in order to know further details of counselling round.

NEET UG 2023 Cutoff

The maximum marks for NEET exam are 720 all the candidates need to score the minimum cutoff to qualify the examination. Central board of secondary education will prepare all India merit list of successful candidates and display it online on the website in accordance with the criteria provided by the medical council of India and dental council of India.

The CBSE will prepare a merit list of all successful candidates all India for the exam of 2023 as the eligibility criteria provided by the medical council of India in association with the dental council of India under the medical council act 1956 and the BDS course regulations 2007 issued under the Dentists act 1948.

For the eligibility to admission for MBBS or BDS courses it is very important that the candidate has crossed the minimum criteria of percentage of marks which is 50th percentile in case of open category candidates 40th percentile in case of scheduled caste scheduled tribes and other backward classes and in case of physically handicapped open category students it should be 45th percentile and in case of reserved category physically handicapped it will be 40th percentile.
