XAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to XLRI and other XAMI member institutes or B-schools accepting XAT scores, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a three-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university.

  • Final Year Students: Candidates appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree or awaiting results are also eligible to apply for XAT 2026. However, they must submit their degree certificate and mark sheet by the end of the admission year.

  • Minimum Marks Requirement: Some XAT-accepting institutes may require a minimum of 50% marks in graduation (45% for candidates belonging to reserved categories).

Age Criteria for XAT 2026

There is no age restriction for appearing in XAT 2026. The exam is open to both recent graduates and working professionals, regardless of age.

XLRI Course-Wise Eligibility Criteria

1. Business Management (BM) and Human Resource Management (HRM)

  • Candidates must have a three-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Central/State legislature or approved by AICTE.

  • Final year students can apply, provided they complete their last examination by June 10, 2026.

2. General Management Programme (GMP)

  • Candidates must hold a three-year bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university (in India or abroad).

  • Applicants must be full-time working professionals post their graduation.

  • A minimum of five years of managerial or supervisory experience (as of March 31, 2023) in public, private, or non-governmental organisations is required.

XAT 2026 Selection Criteria

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their XAT exam score, followed by rounds of Essay Writing, Personal Interview (PI), and Group Discussion (GD), depending on the institute.

  • XLRI specifically conducts only Essay Writing and Personal Interview as part of its admission process.

  • Additional parameters such as academic performance, relevant work experience, and extracurricular achievements are also considered while preparing the final merit list.

  • Candidates meeting all criteria will be granted admission for the 2026–2028 academic session.

Admission Through GMAT

XLRI also accepts GMAT scores for admission. Candidates who have taken the GMAT do not need to appear for XAT. They can directly apply for XLRI programs using their GMAT scores.
