About College

National Institute of Technology, Calicut was established in 1961, at that time it was known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC). In 2002, it came to be known as Calicut Regional Engineering College. The institute is focused on the motto to lead many lives from darkness to light and has proven this over the years. 

Many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses are available in the institute. These courses include B. Tech (Civil Engineering, Mechanical engineering etc.), M. Tech (Manufacturing Technology, Thermal Sciences etc.) and PhD (Technology, Architecture etc.).

NIT Calicut is accredited by Council of Architecture (COA) and is firmly associated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked the institute 3rd in architecture and 28th in engineering stream. NIT Calicut ranking is 20th among other engineering colleges in India by The Week. In our country, NIT Calicut ranking is 46 and NIT Calicut World ranking is 2126.

NIT Calicut Admission Process

JEE Main and GATE score are considered for candidates of bachelor and master degree, respectively. Final selection of the candidates is based on the overall percentage of the previous exams combined with GATE or JEE Main score and personal interview.

  • B. Tech candidates require to get a certain score in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
  • M. Tech candidates’ final selection is based on bachelor’s degree percentage and GATE score.
  • PhD applicants need to appear for an entrance examination followed by an interview.

NIT Calicut Placements

NIT Calicut is popular among students for its placements. Every year many NITs get placed in reputed companies to kick start their career. The Placement cell ensures that every student of the batch gets his/her dream job. More than 100 recruiters visit the campus after a batch ends and provide around 90 per cent placement.

Speaking about its placement trend, last year, 130 corporate bodies visited the campus and 609 number of offers they offered to the students. Highest salary offered till date is 40 Lakhs per annum while the average salary package the students mostly get something around 9 LPA. Apart from the full-time job offers, students at NIT Calicut also get the opportunities of internships in their holidays. The internships at various companies help them to realize the actual scenario in a job.

NIT Calicut Result & Cut-off

As mentioned above, to get into NIT Calicut, applicants have to pass certain examinations. NIT Calicut decides its cut-off for these examinations after the actual cut-off released for the year. The NIT Calicut cut-off marks are based on the number of candidates participating, their results and number of seats available in the institute. Certain JEE and GATE scores are required to get admitted in the particular course.
