UPSC-CMS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

It is highly recommended that the candidates should check the eligibility criteria before filling up the application form. If the candidate fails to meet the eligibility criteria then the candidate would not be placed for the job or may not be allowed to enter the selection process. Union Public Service Commission has laid down the following eligibility criteria :

  • The most important criteria is Nationality – so the candidate should be either (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India; or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • However it should be noted that the candidate belonging to the categories (b), (c), (d) above shall be a person who has a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
  • The next important criteria is that the candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of final MBBS Examination. A candidate who has seemed or has yet to appear at the final MBBS exam may also apply. Such candidates will be acknowledged to the exam, if otherwise eligible but the admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if they do not produce proof of having passed the written and practical part of the final MBBS Exam along with the detailed application which will be required to be submitted to the Commission by the candidates who qualify on the result of the Computer-based exam A candidate who has yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship is educationally eligible for admission to the examination but on selection, he/she will be appointed only after he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship
  • Age of the candidate also matters in the selection process and the candidate should not be earlier than 02nd August 1986 and must not have attained the age of 32 years as on 01st August 2019.
