Steps to Check MHT CET 2026 Result

MHT CET 2026 Merit List and Ranking

Once the results are declared, candidates must register on the MHT CET 2026 CAP counselling portal. The CET Cell then publishes a merit list of all registered candidates.

Provisional Merit List

Initially, a provisional merit list is released. Candidates are allowed to review their details and submit grievances if they find any discrepancies in their marks. The CET Cell verifies these claims and makes corrections wherever necessary.

Final Merit List

After addressing all objections and grievances, the CET Cell publishes the final merit list. This list is considered official, and seat allotment under MHT CET CAP 2026 counselling is conducted based on candidates’ merit positions in the final list.

Understanding the Different Ranks in the MHT CET Merit List

The MHT CET merit list includes multiple types of ranks. Each rank represents a candidate’s position in a specific category or quota. The details are explained below:

Rank Type Meaning
State General Merit Number Indicates your overall rank among all candidates who appeared for the MHT CET across Maharashtra.
Home University General Merit Number Shows your rank among candidates from your Home University (the university linked to your district).
State Category Merit Number Reflects your rank among candidates belonging to your reserved category across the entire state.
University Category Merit Number Represents your rank within your specific category in your Home University.
State PWD / University PWD Merit Number Rank allotted to candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) category at the state or university level.
TFWS Merit Number Rank assigned to candidates who have applied under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS).
All India Merit Number Rank provided to candidates who have applied through JEE Main scores under the All India quota.
Ladies Rank Separate ranks (State General, University, Category) calculated specifically among female candidates.

These different ranks help determine seat allotment under various quotas during the CAP counselling process.

MHT CET CAP 2026 Counselling

The Maharashtra CET Cell conducts the MHT CET counselling process, known as the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). All candidates who secure a non-zero score in MHT CET must register for CAP counselling to be considered for admission. After registration, candidates are assigned a merit number in the MHT CET merit list.

Only candidates whose names appear in the merit list are eligible to participate in the counselling process. They must fill in their preferred colleges and courses during the choice-filling stage. Seat allotment is carried out based on the candidate’s rank in the merit list. The CET Cell is expected to conduct 3 to 4 rounds of CAP 2026 counselling, depending on the number of applicants.
