GMAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit for GMAT:

There is no upper age limit to appear for the GMAT exam. However, candidates need to be at least 18 years old. In exceptional cases, aspirants aged between 13 to 17 are also allowed to take the exam, provided they have written consent from their legal guardians or parents.

Language Requirements for GMAT:

As the GMAT exam is designed to be taken in English, it is essential for the aspirants to have a basic understanding and fluency in the language. Candidates must have excellent command over the English language to comprehend the complicated and confusing questions asked in the exam.

Academic Eligibility / Qualification:

The GMAC has not set any academic eligibility requirements for taking the GMAT exam. Candidates need not have any minimum qualification or degree to appear for the exam. However, final-year undergraduate students or working professionals willing to take up a management course further are the majority of test-takers. Even if the candidates do not fall under this category, they can still take the exam.

Scores:

There are no set eligibility criteria in terms of academic scores and grades for taking the GMAT. There are no minimum cut-off marks required to take the exam. However, candidates need to check the minimum score eligibility while applying to B-schools.

Work Experience:

Although many working professionals attempt the GMAT exam, one need not have any work experience to take the exam. Having relevant work experience gives an added advantage while applying to a B-school, but there are no work experience eligibility criteria to take the exam.

Other Restrictions:

According to the GMAC, any individual, regardless of gender, age, nationality, religion, academic background, etc., can appear for the exam without any discrimination. Differently-abled candidates are also provided with special exam accommodation upon request, and their medical documents defining the disability are kept confidential as per the privacy statement declared by the GMAC.
