MICA’s MICAST Podcast

What is MICAST?

MICAST is the official podcast created by students of MICA Ahmedabad (formerly Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad), a top institution for strategic marketing and communications.

The podcast highlights on-campus events, engaging interviews, lively discussions, and insightful analyses. It features students, alumni, faculty, and guest speakers. Besides MICA’s own platforms, listeners can also tune in on Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

How Did MICAST Begin?

The idea behind MICAST came from the students’ desire to explore new ways of communication. They carefully planned the podcast to match the dynamic nature of this medium.

Over time, MICAST gained a loyal audience of students, alumni, and communication professionals. Moreover, its episodes feature stimulating conversations led by both students and industry veterans, making it an authentic platform for creative expression.

What Does MICAST Feature?

Each MICAST episode is divided into two parts —

  1. Domain Discussion: A focused talk on a communication-related theme.

  2. Rapid-Fire Round: A fun, engaging Q&A session with professors.

Since its inception, MICAST has covered various topical issues, including the global pandemic that reshaped industries and human behavior.

About ‘The New Norm’ Series

‘The New Norm’ is MICAST’s current podcast series, focusing on the impact of Covid-19 and its lasting effects on creativity, communication, and industry practices.

Created and produced by Piyush Goswami and Nitpreet Chawla, both second-year MICA students, the series was recorded remotely using advanced multitrack techniques during the lockdown.

This six-episode series features MICA faculty members sharing their insights on creativity, finance, operations, leisure marketing, human behavior, and supply chain management — exploring how industries can adapt and thrive in changing times.

The Team Behind MICAST

Piyush Goswami, an experienced radio host and member of MICA’s community radio MICAVAANI, found the remote recording process both challenging and rewarding.

His co-creator, Nitpreet Chawla, a skilled public speaker, ventured into podcasting for the first time. She emphasized the importance of curating relevant, meaningful content and mastering the art of one-to-one dialogue.

The Future of MICAST

The creators and faculty believe that MICAST has already established itself as a creative communication platform that connects MICA with a broader audience. With growing popularity, the podcast continues to shape the narrative around strategic communication and media innovation at MICA Ahmedabad.
