UPSC NDA/NA Cutoff

  • Short Description:

The marks are allotted out of 900 for the written examination. The examination consists of two sections which are further divided into various subjects that the candidates need to study.

The cut-off will be sectional. That is a minimum of 25-30% need to be secured in each section. Only those students who secure more than or as much as the cut off marks will qualify for the next examination.

For final selection of candidates, an aggregate of both the written as well as the SSB round is calculated.

The total is calculated from out of a total of 1800 marks.

  • Recruitment and vacancy:

Every year, a lot of candidates apply for recruitment in NDA and NA department. One needs to appear for UPSC Exam for that.

Only Male candidates who are unmarried can appear for this examination

Following the eligibility criteria, the candidates need to fill up an application form. The application form is available on the official website of UPSC examination.

The candidates must enter their preference of the centre they wish to give an examination.

The form is filled in 4 phases. In the first, the candidates enter their personal details, then they choose their preferred stream of examination, they upload their photo and signature and finally get their registration numbers.

The candidates must pay their application fees either online or in cash using a pay-slip. The cash needs to be deposited in the SBI Bank.

The candidates must then download an admit card that is issued to them individually. That is supposed to be downloaded from the official website.

They then appear for the written examination which has two papers of 2 hours and 30 minutes each. A total of 900 marks are allotted to this round.

The paper of mathematics contains various subjects like algebra, geometry, statistics etc. If you take a closer look at the syllabus of each subjects, you will notice that these are the chapters that are usually taught to students in their school until 10th Standard and then in the 11th and 12th as well. A candidate just needs to revise what he has studied all his life and become pro at it.

Similarly, the section of General Abilities consists of various subjects like history, geography, science- physics, chemistry and biology. These chapters are test the candidate’s education as he has received until the 12th standard or any other education as he may have received during his schooling years and is recognized by the state education board.

Apart from the above sections, the candidate is required to know about the current affairs too so as to be updated with what is happening in the world around them.

The books for each of the above section is available. The candidate is advised to solve previous year question papers too. This is to ensure enough practise before they appear for the crucial examination.

After the candidate secures a minimum of 25% and 30% in each section of examination, he has to sign up for the SSB interview round.

The SSB interview is conducted to test the mental and physical abilities of the candidates. The marks are allotted marks based on their proficiency by the examiners. The cut off is also subject to the discrepancy of the examining authorities.

After the candidates have cleared both rounds of Examination, the list of cadets is released. They are trained in their training centres and are allotted stiffened of Rs.21000/- each.

After the three years of training, the cadets are provided with a degree in B.A. or B.Sc. and they proceed further either in the defence or navy category as per the choice of the candidates.
