UPSC Geologist 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates would need to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria to apply for the examination. The authority has laid down the following eligibility criteria have been given in the following points:-

  • Candidates of India or subject of Nepal or subject of Bhutan or Tibetan refugee. Other than these citizens will not be able to apply for the examination.
  • The minimum age for the candidate is the age of 21 years and the maximum age of the candidate is 32 years.
  • The upper age limit for the post of Hydrologist will be 35 years as on the first day of the January month of the year in which candidate is applying for the examination.
  • Candidates should be physically fit according to physical standards specified for appearing to the entrance test
  • The educational qualifications of the candidates are as follows:
Geologists Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India Geophysicists Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India Chemists Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India
Candidates ought to have obtained Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Geological Science or Geo-Exploration or Engineering Geology or Mineral Exploration or natural Science and Resource Management or Marine Geology or Oceanography and Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Fossil oil Geosciences or Coastal Area Studies or Geophysical Technology or Petroleum Exploration. Applicants should have done M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. in Physics or Integrated M.Sc. which is Exploration Geophysics or Applied Physics or M.Sc which is Geophysics or M.Sc Physics degree. Aspirants should have  done M.Sc degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or Applied Chemistry.
