UPSC Geologist Cutoff
The UPSC Geologist Exam is considered as toughest and competitive exam. Cut off is the minimum marks required to be recruited for the desired position and the factors that affect Geoscientist and Geologist cut-off marks are as follows:

Recruitment Process and Vacancy Details
UPSC will be accompanying the Geologists’ Examination, 2018 from 29 June, 2018 for recruitment of geologists to the following vacancies and for the following posts:
(i) Geologist (Group A): 100 vacancies
(ii) Geophysicists (Group A): 80 vacancies
(iii) Chemist (Group A): 80 vacancies

Candidates would be selected on the basis of their performance in written exam and interview or the personality test conducted by UPSC respectively. Geologists can toil in industries associated to mining, oil and gas, minerals and water resources. They can also be employ in the college and universities as a teacher. The top recruiters are Geological Survey of India (GSI), Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Minerals and metals trading corporation (MMTC), coal India, Mineral Exploration Ltd., Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Indian Space Research organization (ISRO), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Geologist Salary will keep on rising with the increase in your work experience and skills. The starting salary for the geologist can be RS 2 lakhs but can increase up to 15 lakhs. The pay salary by experience level for geologist are as follows:-
- The average total compensation includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay.
- An entry-level geologist with less than five years of experience can receive to earn an average total compensation of Rs 476,000.
- An experienced Geologist which includes employees with the 10 to 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of Rs 843,000
- A geologist with mid-career experience with 5 to 10 years of experience will get the salary of Rs 650,000
- A geologist with late-career experience which includes employees with greater than 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of RS 2,795,000.
All the Categories under the UPSC combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist examination will have the following after the 7th Central Pay Commission has been announced. Pay scale would be INR 15,600 to INR 39,100 and Grade pay would be INR 5,400 along with the other allowances such as DA, HRA and all necessary allowances. The Basic salary for all the positions will be INR 56,100.
