SSC JHT 2019 Syllabus

Candidates should know the syllabus of this exam to ensure that their preparation is channelized in a better way. The precise form of the syllabus is mentioned in the official notification. The syllabus is different for different papers. The syllabus prescribed for this exam is of degree level. The main idea for framing this syllabus is to test the ability of the candidates to write the languages in an effective manner. They should also know to find the appropriate usage of the words. Most importantly, candidates should know to write the sentences in a precise manner.

For Paper 1:

  • Phrases and Idioms
  • Grammar
  • Spelling test

For Paper II:

The level of difficulty of the paper will be consistent with the prescribed educational qualification.

  • Translation of Paragraphs from Hindi to English
  • Translation of Paragraphs from English to Hindi
  • Essays in both English and Hindi

Books to be referred

It is recommended for the candidates not to refer too many books for the same topic. It would lead to unnecessary confusion. It is important to stick with a single source for a particular topic and make notes. These notes would help in quick revision. Moreover, try to get the books which are easily available in the stores. Searching for the books which are not easily available would kill most of your precious time during the exam.

  3. Adhunik Hindi Vyakaran aur Rachna (Hindi) written by Dr Vashudevnandan Prasad and published by Bharti Bhavan Publisher and Distributors.
  4. English Grammar Book written by Wren and Martin
  5. Competitive General English – Hind which is published by the Think Tank of Kiran Prakashan
  6. Objective General English by S.P. Bakshi
  7. SSC Junior Hindi Translator Exam published by Arihant Publication
  8. SSC Senior/Junior Hindi Translators Exam published by Upkar’s Publication

While getting the books, you have to make sure that you are getting the latest edition as the old edition may not contain certain details. Moreover, the new addition may get updated based on the changing needs of the examination.

Apart from these books, it is most essential to read at least one English and One Hindi Newspaper. This would help in improving your vocabulary skills and comprehension skills. Candidates should also make newspaper notes on topic wise so that it would be easier for the preparation.
