National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli Overview
National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli (NITT) was established in 1964 as a result of a collaboration of the Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu. Their main motto was to provide manpower to the evolving technological scenario in India. With the Government’s initiative, 31 NITs were constructed and NITT is the biggest of them. NITT was approved for Deemed University Status by University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE in the year 2003.
NITT offers courses in various streams like Engineering and Technology. The institute has ten programmes on the undergraduate level and 26 programmes on postgraduate level. PhD programmes are also available for the candidates interested to pursue research. Candidates who are Foreign nationals, NRIs can also take admission through the DASA Scheme.
NITT is ranked 11th among all institutes in India by NIRF rankings of 2019. Among the NITs, it is one of the best institutes for engineering.
NIT Tiruchirapalli has over 200 faculties, each expert in their individual fields. Dr C.Natarajan is the professor of Civil Engineering Department and is the author of many books on engineering and its theories.
NIT Tiruchirapalli Courses Offered and Fee Structure
NIT Tiruchirapalli offers courses on undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels in various streams of engineering. Currently, the college provides nine courses in B.Tech and 21 courses in M.Tech. For PhD courses, nine specializations in engineering are available.

|B.Tech||75% marks in class 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology or any other Technical Vocational subject OR be in the top 20 percentile in class 10+2 board examination. |M.Tech||Passed bachelor's degree in relevant discipline or BE or B.Tech and secured minimum 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 60% for OC or OB, whereas 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale or 55% in case of SC or ST or PwD candidates. The above mentioned CGPA or Percentage should be given by a recognized University or Institute||1.62 lakhs|
Master’s or M.S. (by Research) degree in Engineering or Technology in the appropriate branch of study with a minimum of 60% marks and 55% for SC or ST or PWD candidates
NIT Tiruchirapalli Admission process
All the candidates applying for the undergraduate courses in NIT Trichy have to appear in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), which are conducted by the IITs. Students applying for postgraduate courses should appear for GATE examinations.

- For full-time undergraduate B.Tech programmes, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of JEE scores and JoSAA counselling.
- For full-time postgraduate courses in M.Tech, candidate selection is based on GATE examination scores.

For NIT Tiruchirapalli, the placement activities are handled by the placement office. For the year 2017-2018, over 90% of the students were placed with reputed companies. 289 companies took part in the placement drive and provided job offers to the people. The highest salary package offered was 90 lakhs per annum. Some of the popular brands that offered jobs to the students are IBM, Google, TCS, Infosys etc.

NIT Tiruchirapalli Results and Cutoff
Based on the JEE marks, the selection of the undergraduate students are done. The cutoff for JEE marks is announced after the results of the exams are declared. Only the candidates who score above the JEE cutoff can get in the institution. The cutoff depends on the overall performance of the candidates in the exam.

NIT Tiruchirapalli Scholarships
The institute almost approves all of the scholarships provided by Government of India and Government of Tamil Nadu for minorities and financially backward people with merit. Siver 72 trust scholarship and Abundant Cauvery Delta Trust Foundation are the two scholarships that are provided by the Batch Alumni Scholarships for the people with poor financial status.

Sprawled over a huge area of 800 acres in the centre of Tamil Nadu, on the banks of river Cauvery, is the NITT Campus. It is located only 17 km from the Tiruchirapalli Railway Station and can be reached easily from Chennai and Bangalore. Life at the campus is wonderful as they have all the amenities that can be thought possible. They have a computer lab well-equipped with modern technology and high internet speed to cater to the needs of the students, a huge library for education resources and a hostel for accommodation. Additionally, they have hospitals, banks, shopping centres, sports grounds, gym, lecture halls for the comfort of the students.
