Minimum Qualifying Cutoff (Eligibility for Shortlisting)

These are the official-style minimum percentiles usually required to be considered:

• General: ~ 90 percentile

• NC-OBC: ~ 80 percentile

• EWS: ~ 78 percentile

• SC: ~ 60 percentile

• ST: ~ 55 percentile

• PwD: ~ 55 percentile

(This is only the eligibility benchmark, not the actual cutoff for receiving interview calls.)

Actual / Effective CAT Percentile Needed for Interview Call

Due to high competition, the real shortlisting percentiles are much higher:

• General: 97 – 98+ percentile

• NC-OBC: 90 – 92 percentile

• EWS: 88 – 90 percentile

• SC/ST: 70 – 75 percentile

Why the Gap?

• IIT Delhi releases only minimum criteria.

• But in reality, the number of applicants is far higher than seats, so the final shortlist moves to much higher percentiles.

Besides CAT, DMS IIT Delhi considers:

• Academic profile

• Work experience

• Diversity

• PI performance

• SOP/other components
