Navigating The MBA Maze

Choosing the right business school can be crucial in your academic and professional life. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to decide which one is the best fit for you. One important factor to consider is student reviews. By listening to the experiences of current and former students, you can gain valuable insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a particular business school. Here are some tips on how to use student reviews to choose the right business school for you.

1. Look for patterns in the reviews: As you read through student reviews, pay attention to patterns and recurring themes. Are students praising the quality of the professors or the job placement opportunities? Are they complaining about the lack of resources or support from the administration? These recurring themes can give you a good sense of what to expect at a business school.

2. Consider the source: Make sure to consider the source of the student reviews. Are they current students, alumni, or just random internet users? Current students will be able to give you the most up-to-date information, while alumni will be able to provide a long-term perspective on their experience at the business school.

3. Read both positive and negative reviews: It is important to read both positive and negative reviews to get a well-rounded view of the business school. While positive reviews can provide insight into the strengths of a school, negative reviews can highlight areas for improvement.

Student reviews from MDI Murshidabad (MDIM)

As a commerce graduate, I knew I wanted to pursue an MBA in 12th grade, but like many other CAT test-takers, I was unsure of which B-school to choose. I wanted to make the best decision based on my academics and CAT percentile. After conducting thorough research, I ultimately decided that MDIM was the best fit for me. Some of the factors that stood out to me were the institution’s renowned brand name, superior return on investment compared to other B-schools, diverse clubs and committees for student development and industry exposure, and highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are dedicated to the overall growth of their students.

Divya Sharma – Batch 2022-24

As a working professional with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, I decided to enhance myself by pursuing an MBA. I struggled to choose from a list of colleges, but MDIM, one of the newest business schools in the country, stood out to me due to its rapid growth in recent years and the well-known MDI brand. The Bloomberg Financial Lab, a costly facility provided by the college for the benefit of its students, caught my attention as a supporter of the financial sector. The MDIM fee structure was also reasonable and well-organized compared to other institutions I considered, and I was willing to pay a fair fee for a quality education. When considering any investment, it’s rational to weigh the return on investment, which includes not just job placement but also the knowledge, skills, and personal development gained. After comparing my options, I felt that MDIM would enable me to accomplish my goals more effectively.

Sai Manish Batam –  Batarch 2022-24

As a commerce graduate with a background in B.Com (Hons) and a year of experience working at PwC, I have always had a passion for pursuing a management course. In order to make a wise selection, I based my decision on my academic scores and CAT score, and after thorough research, I found that MDIM offered me a range of opportunities that no other institute could. The YoY growth of the institute is tremendous, and the placements have skyrocketed. My decision was based on three major factors: the impressive return on investment, the case-based pedagogy and emphasis on self-learning with guest faculty from top institutes, and the small batch size of approximately 190 students that would allow for more personalised attention and development of soft skills.

Khushi Ladha – Batch 2022-24

After completing my graduation in Pharmacy and working as a QC-Officer for three years, I came to understand that technical and management skills are essential for climbing the corporate ladder. So, I decided to pursue an MBA. With a plethora of colleges to choose from, I used factors such as faculty profile, approvals and accreditations, pedagogy, recruiters and return on investment to make my decision. The first thing that caught my attention about MDI, Murshidabad was its strong brand name and impressive growth in less than a decade. I believed that overall development is possible through the residential course at MDIM and with multiple approvals and accreditations, it was further graded as A** at the National level and A*** at the State level by CRISIL. MDIM quickly became a favorite among recruiters, achieving 100% placement every year. Choosing MDIM for my MBA gave me a tranquil ambiance, away from the hustle-bustle of the city.

Anjali Mehta – Batch 2022-24

When someone takes the CAT, they begin to envision themselves in a top business school and start compiling lists of potential institutions based on factors such as tuition costs, returns on investment, and the campus’s overall health. As a commerce graduate, I also had aspirations of attending prestigious institutions, and after analyzing my percentile and evaluating many colleges using these criteria, I chose MDI Murshidabad. With an average package of approximately 11.5 lakhs and a strong return on investment, it felt like the best option for me. The college has rapidly expanded since 2014, and this trend is expected to continue. After speaking with alumni, I was reassured that this was the best option for me to advance professionally. Now that I am a student, I can confidently say that I made the best choice.

Harsh Sharma –  Batch 2022-24

I researched the top MBA colleges in India before taking the CAT and created a target list based on my various percentiles. I used several criteria when evaluating colleges, including return on investment, which is important because a college should offer a good average package in line with its fee schedule. With an average package of 11.32 lakhs, MDIM has a high ROI. Then, I looked for reputable and trustworthy brands, and there’s none better than the MDI brand name. I also evaluated the college’s recent performances, and MDIM stood out for its rapid growth. Since I prefer not to live in a hostel, I also sought a college with a lovely campus, and MDIM’s campus caught my attention. Through this process of comparing various institutions, I found that MDIM was the best fit for me.
