SBI Clerk 2019 Exam Pattern

5.1 Short Description:

As mentioned above, the exam pattern consists of two rounds. The preliminary round and the Main Examination. Both the rounds are objective type. Each question carries one mark and there is negative marking system as well. 0.25 of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer.  It is important to know the pattern of this examination well in advance so that that the candidates can prepare themselves well.  It enhances the understanding of the aspirant candidate regarding the structure of exam and how the candidate can approach it.

5.2 Table for Exam Pattern:

The preliminary paper is divided into three subjects while the main exam paper is divided in four subjects. Each subject has a fixed number of questions each carrying one mark. There is time limit prescribed for each section and candidates must attempt the questions of the subjects within the time limit as prescribed.  Below is a tabulation of the Exam Pattern of Preliminary as well as Main exams.

5.2.1. SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam: Tabular Form of Exam Pattern

The total marks allotted in the paper are 100. The questions are objective type and carry a mark each. As we can see, the entire paper is for duration of one hour. This one hour is equally divided in the above three subjects. The candidates are expected to complete each section within the prescribed time limit which is 20 minutes.

5.2.2 SBI Clerk Main Exam: Tabular Form of Exam Pattern

5.2 Preparation Tips:

  1. Be thoroughly aware of the exam pattern, syllabus and the marking system.
  2. Prepare each subject well
  3. Make your own Time Table and adhere to it. Do not procrastinate your syllabus.
  4. Study every day, consistently. Do not try to study too much together to confuse yourself. Last minute studying is not going to be helpful in any way to you.
  5. Understand the concepts. Do not look for shortcuts.
  6. Adopt a disciplined studying schedule.
  7. Manage your time well. Plan your day. Think of how you can efficiently manage all your subjects and study them well according to their weightage.
  8. Revise all that you have studied on a regular basis.
  9. Take mock tests. There are mock tests available for practise. Also solve your previous year papers. After that, assess your own performance. Compare your answers with an answer key.
  10. There is SBI Clerk Pre- Exam Training organized for candidates of the reserved category. These are organized at certain centres as per the strategy issued by the Government of India. They train the candidates with the type of questions, the answers, the commonly made errors and provide tips for management of studies.
