    JPSC 2018 Exam Pattern

    It is important for candidates to get well-acquainted with the exam pattern so that they can perform well in the examination. The commission conducts the examination in three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Interview. Both the preliminary and mains examination are conducted in offline mode.

    Preliminary exam:

    The questions in the exam will be present in both Hindi and English medium. But, those questions which are used to test the comprehension skills and knowledge of the candidates in grammar and vocabulary will be given only in that particular language. The translation for such questions will not be given. Therefore, the candidates are advised to practice accordingly. The marks which are given for each question will be two marks. There is no negative marking in this exam.

    Those who are qualifying in the preliminary exam will be called for appearing on the mains examination.

    Mains Examination

    The pattern of the exam in mains will be of the descriptive type. The exam consists of six papers in total. There is no optional subject in this exam. All the candidates should attend all the subjects. It is important for every candidate to secure a minimum of 30 marks in each paper.

    Preparation Tips

    • Preparation of a better plan is important for successful preparation. While formulating a plan, make sure to prepare a plan which you can follow. Preparing an unrealistic plan would make you even more stressful.
    • Follow the plan with due diligence. If you are missing your targets, try to cope in the succeeding days.
    • Find your areas of strengths and weaknesses. Complete your strong areas and then move on to the weakest areas. It is better to leave those areas which you are finding very difficult to follow.
    • Try to solve any many question papers as possible to increase your speed and accuracy. It is important to select the question papers of different difficulty level. This would help in facing the exam with more confidence.
    • While practicing the question papers for solving, it is important to finish the question papers within the prescribed time limit.
    • Try to correct all those mistakes which you are making in every test in the subsequent tests.
    • Have a preparation strategy specific for every paper. It is important to note down every important point in a separate notebook so that it can be used for further revision.
    • You use also use a number of innovative techniques such as mind maps and flow charts for creating an edge over others in the preparation.
