Library web portal: A resource for web-based information services

In today’s digital information landscape, a well-defined system is essential for organising, storing, and retrieving information efficiently. A library portal serves as a valuable tool for facilitating web-based information services. We subscribe to electronic resources through the VTU Consortium. However, the full potential of these resources can only be realised with a functional website that enables users to leverage them effectively. Web portals play a crucial role in enhancing access to electronic resources by increasing their visibility. Therefore, we have developed a dedicated web portal for accessing these resources. Through the link https://smvitb.knimbus.com/user#/home, students can access e-journals, e-books, e-papers, old question papers, the National Digital Library (NDL), and NPTEL videos.

Digital Library

The Digital Library serves as a dedicated platform for accessing e-journals and other electronic resources online. Additionally, it offers access to approximately 2677 CD/DVD ROMs. Students can utilise NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), a collaborative effort of IITs and IISc, to access lecture videos and notes.

DELNET

The institution is affiliated with DELNET (Developing Library Network), a significant library network in South Asia. DELNET connects over 900 libraries across India and six other countries, granting access to approximately fifty lakh records of books, journals, articles, and other documents. Additionally, DELNET offers Inter Library Loan services for books and Document Delivery Services for journal articles to member libraries within and outside India. Users can submit requests for books via Inter Library Loan or request photocopies of articles through online services.
