Pondicherry University Scholarship

Pondicherry University offers both scholarship and financial aid to the students so that they can feel motivated to pursue their higher studies and proceed further to have a successful career.

There are various scholarship and fellowship programmes given by the University for this purpose. You can get more information regarding this on the official website of Pondicherry University. 

Scholarship 1: Merit scholarship is awarded to the PG students who secured highest marks in their entrance test and Rs.500/- p.m is given to them in 1st semester. This process is continued with the toppers of semester 2, semester 3 and semester 4. 

Scholarship 2: Merit Cum Mean Scholarship is awarded to a student based on both merit and income of their parents. In this case, the annual income of the parent should not exceed the limit of Rs.1,10,000. The scholarship amount is Rs.500/- p.m

Scholarship 3: Freeship is awarded to 20% of students in every Master-degree courses. In subjects like Hindi and Sanskrit, the first six students will be given freeship. Here also, the annual income of the parent should not exceed the limit of Rs.1,10,000. It covers one-year tuition fees for an academic year. 

Scholarship 4: All students will be awarded Rs.1,000/- for pursuing M.Sc. in Marine Biology & Disaster Management from Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 

Scholarship 5: All students will be awarded Rs.8,000/- for pursuing M.Tech in Computational Biology.

Scholarship: 6: The students who have cleared NBHM examination are provided scholarship from the National Board for Higher Mathematics, Mumbai (Department of Atomic Energy). 

Scholarship 7: SC/ST candidates are given scholarship from different state governments like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and the union territory of Puducherry. 

Fellowship 1: PhD scholars are eligible for a fellowship amount of Rs. 8000/- pm.

Fellowship 2: Candidates who have qualified UGC/ CSIR NET are eligible for Junior Research Fellowship. An amount of Rs.16,000/- pm is given for two years. After completion of two years, the amount is enhanced to Rs.18,000/-pm. Also, students are given a contingent amount of Rs.20,000/-per year that is subjected to approval by the UGC/CSIR. 

Fellowship 3: UGC provides fellowship to SC/ST and minority scholars pursuing PhD courses. Rajiv Gandhi National fellowship is provided to SC/ST scholars, while Maulana Azad National fellowship is provided to minority scholars.
