Pondicherry University Campus Facilities

Pondicherry University campus has an area of around 800 acres that gently moves down to the beaches, and there are trees scattered in between them. The land of the University was donated by the local people to the Government of Pondicherry.

The University has two centres at Karaikal and Port Blair. The centre at Karaikal offers three PG courses, while the centre at Port Blair offers two PG courses and two PhD courses. For further development of University and its faculties, it has signed several MOUs with Indian as well as international universities. 

The University of Pondicherry has two auditoriums and many other seminar and conference halls to conduct the national, international and important events of University such as workshops, meetings, conferences, seminars, cultural programmes etc.

All these rooms are well furnished with modern equipment. A branch of Indian Bank also operates within the University for the payment of fees of all the students. An ATM is also available within the University campus. 

The campus nestles three canteens that offer food facility to the students, staff and visitors of the University. There are also three coffee stations from the brand of Fresh & Honest Breweries.

It has a library named Ananda Ranga Pillai Library of 80,000 sq.ft area, and it is equipped with all modern amenities like Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, 24×7 access to e-collection, etc. 

The University also has a centre for computer established in the year 1992, that fulfils all teaching/learning research requirements of different schools, departments, directorates, UGC-HRD, Community colleges etc. It also serves as an academic centre for the Computer Science Department and engages itself in departmental activities like training, programmes, workshops, etc. 

A healthcare centre and ambulance are also present in the University campus for emergencies. A post office within the campus conducts all the postal activities.

The University of Pondicherry has 17 hostels in all total, with 11 hostels for men, five for women and one for international students. The security deposit for Indian students is Rs. 3,000/- while for International students it is Rs.6,000/-.

The monthly hostel fee is not charged from girl students and SC/ST boy students; however, they need to pay other charges likes security deposit, mess fees, establishment charges, admission charges, etc. Students are provided meals at nominal prices at the hostel mess.

A subsidy is offered in the mess fees of the students whose parents annual fees don’t exceed 4.5 lakhs per annum.  Pondicherry University has a Guest House located in a separate campus that is 14kms ahead of Pondicherry town. This guesthouse also serves as a University Convention cum Cultural Centre. It has fully furnished air-conditioned rooms, suites, and a dining centre.
