NIFT Shillong Admission Process

Being one of the finest fashion education centres, the National Institute of Fashion Technology offers specialisation in both UG and PG programmes. NIFT admission follows a smooth procedure with an entrance exam namely Creative Ability Test where eligible candidates can appear. It is further followed by a personal interview. The test is conducted by the authority and the selection is done on the basis of merit.

NIFT Shillong admission is also done on the basis of merit in the Creative Ability Test. NIFT eligibility criteria are discussed below:

• In the UG programme, NIFT offers specialisation in Accessory Design and Fashion Design for a duration of 4 years. In order to appear for the entrance exam, the candidate must have 10+2 certification from a recognised Board or Institute or passing grade certified by National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. He or she may appear for the Creative Ability Test and the selection of the candidates will be decided on merit.
• In the PG programme, NIFT offers Fashion Management study for which a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or three years Diploma from NIFT or NID. The candidate will be required to appear for the NIFT entrance exam and the selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained.

NIFT also offers Continuing Education (CE) Programmes, which is a certificate course. In this programme, the candidate can pursue a minimum of 3-month certificate course to one year programme. The One year programme includes Fashion and Clothing Technology, Garment Export Merchandising Management, Fashion Retail Management, Computer Applications in Fashion Industry and Clothing Production Technology.

Under the six months programme, it offers Industry pattern making, Design Production and Portfolio Development and Visual Merchandising. In the four month’s programme, it offers Fashion Photography and Store Operation while Semiotics of Art & Design is offered for a duration of three months.
