The faculty is known for their hands on process of teaching and using real life precedents to help students understand the subject matter.

Manipal University ranking is 119 among the BRICS (Brazil. Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations by the QS World University Ranking in 2018. The 2018 survey made by the government organisation, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked Manipal 19 among all institutions and 11 among universities across the country.
Admissions to MAHE is moderated by the institution’s very own, Manipal Entrance Test (MET). The syllabus for the different degree programmes is set accordingly. Hundreds of thousands of prospective candidates sit for the exams. The cut-offs are high and the acceptance rate is very low. In 2016, only 4.3% (6,500) of the 1,50,000 applicants found a seat in the university. While admission to most courses is based on the candidate’s score and rank in MET, there are courses such as MBBS, MD and MBA for which the candidates have to sit in all India entrance exams such as NEET for medical aspirants and XAT/MAT for business school prospects.

MBA aspirants are expected to score at least 600 in their MAT or if they are taking XAT their score should at least be 85 in order to get into TAPMI.
Most other candidates such as those applying for courses like BA, B.Com or B.Sc have to undertake the Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MUOET) and their cutoff is usually the top 25% in their respective category.
