IIT Madras Integrated Course Admission 2024

IIT Madras provides a wide array of courses, including three integrated programs spanning a duration of five years. The table below outlines key highlights of these courses:

Dual Degree (B.Tech & M.Tech)

IIT Madras presents Dual Degree programs in selected engineering and sciences disciplines. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded both an undergraduate and a master’s degree, marking a five-year educational journey. Admissions to this program are granted based on performance in the JEE (Advanced) examination. The duration of this course is five years.

Dual Degree (BS & MS)

IIT Madras extends the offering of BS & MS Dual Degree programs in the fields of Biological Sciences and Physics. Admission to these programs is contingent on performance in the JEE (Advanced) examination. The program spans five years in duration.

IIT Madras presents a two-year M.Tech program, available in a variety of disciplines across the institute, following a credit-based curriculum. Prospective candidates aiming for admission to IIT Madras’ M.Tech program are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Architecture from educational institutions approved by AICTE/Government.

IIT Madras Admission Criteria for M.Tech Selection

Admission to the M.Tech program will be determined primarily by the applicant’s performance in the GATE examination.

Additionally, there are several other admission categories available, including:

1. IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8.0 or higher (on a scale of 10) may apply without a GATE score.
2. Candidates sponsored by recognised organisations under DST as Research and Development units, as well as those sponsored by NIOT, educational institutions approved by AICTE/UGC/Government, or Government/Public Sector Undertakings.
3. For the Quality Improvement Program, direct admission will be granted based on tests and interviews.
4. UOP candidates from various organisations/industries as per the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Institute.
5. Defense-sponsored candidates.

All GATE-qualified candidates must initially register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) before completing the online application on the IIT Madras website.

Upon successful registration, candidates will receive a “COAP Registration Number,” which should be used when completing the registration form. Subsequently, IIT Madras will release the cutoff list for admissions.

IIT Madras Admission Criteria for MBA Selection

Candidates will undergo a selection process based on their performance in the CAT Examination. Only those who receive shortlisting from the respective institute will be invited to participate in the interview phase, which includes the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. Foreign candidates seeking admission to the MBA program are required to provide a GMAT Score.

Graduates from any academic background with a valid CAT score and a minimum of two years of work experience within the same organisation are eligible to apply under the sponsored category through the appropriate channel.

MBA admissions candidates will be chosen based on their CAT Score, past academic performance, work experience, academic diversity, and gender. However, the final selection will also consider factors such as scores from the Writing and Personal Interview, composite score, and other notable achievements.

IIT Madras MBA Cutoff

IIT Madras’ Department of Humanities and Social Sciences provides a two-year full-time Integrated MA program. This MA program offers three elective specialisations: Development Studies, Economics, and English Studies.

IIT Madras MA Eligibility

Candidates in the General, GEN-EWS, and OBC-NCL categories are required to achieve a minimum aggregate score of 60% at the 10+2 level. Meanwhile, candidates in the SC, ST, and PwD categories must attain a minimum aggregate score of 55%.

IIT Madras Admission Criteria for MA Selection

Admission to the MA program offered by IIT Madras will be determined based on a valid GATE Score.

IIT Madras M.Sc Eligibility

• Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Applicants should have attained a minimum of 55% or a CGPA of 5.5 out of 10 for the General, OBC (NCL), or EWS category, and 50% or a CGPA of 5.0 out of 10 for the SC, ST, or PwD category without rounding off the score.

IIT Madras M.Sc Selection Process

Admission to IIT Madras for the M.Sc. program is determined through a national-level online entrance examination called the Joint Admission Test (JAM). Following the successful completion of the entrance examination, IIT Madras will release a merit list based on the ranks of the candidates.

IIT Madras MSc Seats 2023

IIT Madras provides a two-year Executive MBA (EMBA) program tailored for mid-career working professionals. Admission to this program is granted through an entrance examination and an interview conducted by the institute.

IIT Madras EMBA Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 60% marks.
• Additionally, candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years of work experience.

IIT Madras Admission Criteria for EMBA Selection

Candidates must participate in the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) entrance examination administered by the institute. Successful candidates will be invited for a personal interview. Admission will be granted based on the combined performance in the written test and interview, as reflected in the final merit list.

IIT Madras provides a Ph.D. program in various specialisations, including Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, Engineering Design, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Physics, Interdisciplinary, and Entrepreneurship.

IIT Madras Ph. & MS (Research) Eligibility

MS (Research) 

• Eligible candidates should hold a B.E/B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline.
• Candidates with an MFT (Major Field Test) qualification are also eligible to apply for the M.S program.

PhD 

• Applicants should possess a Master’s or a dual degree in the relevant disciplines with a CGPA of 6.5 or above.
• Those with a BE/BTech degree can apply directly for a PhD (MS+PhD) program in Engineering or Sciences after completing their Bachelor’s degree.
• Exceptional M.S scholars with a CGPA > 8.0 have the eligibility to transition to the PhD program within the same department, earning a dual degree (MS+PhD) upon program completion.

IIT Madras PhD & MS (Research) Selection Criteria

To apply for PhD programs, candidates need to have a valid score in exams like UGC NET, CSIR NET, or JRF. On the other hand, a strong GATE score is mandatory for admission to the MS (By Research) program.

For research courses in the field of Management, candidates should possess an MBA degree along with a valid JRF or NET score.
