Founded in the year 2007, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development - Government of India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved, IIITDM (Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing) Kancheepuram is a public autonomous Institute of National Importance located in Kancheepuram, Chennai.

Spread over an area of 51 acres, the college was established to promote design and manufacturing oriented engineering education in India.

The institute provides various UG, PG and doctoral programmes in Technology, Design and Manufacturing consisting of courses like B.tech, B.tech + M.tech, M.des, M.tech and PhD Admission to these courses is conducted on the basis of performance in Entrance Exams like JEE Main for B.Tech. and GATE for M.Tech. IIITDM Kancheepuram offers a total of nine Undergraduate courses and four Postgraduate programmes.

IIITDM Kancheepuram has a current IITDM Kancheepuram ranking of 197 conducted by NIRF 2019. It had an all time best rank between 101 and 150 in the year 2017.

Aspiring candidates need to clear their senior secondary examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology from a recognised board/university. • BE / B.Tech admission - Admission is based on the JEE Main cut-offs through JOSSA and SAT score for non-resident Indians under DASA guidelines, stated by the institution itself followed by various rounds of counselling depending on the desired course or stream.

• ME / M.Tech admission -  Admission is conducted on the basis of the marks scored by candidates in their GATE exam followed by a CCMT counselling.

• PhD admission - IIITDM Kancheepuram PhD admission is conducted through the Institute’s own Entrance Exam followed by a personal interview.

IIITDM Kancheepuram Scholarships

IIITDM Kancheepuram offers scholarships to deserving candidates under the following fellowship or scholarships or assistantships categories:

Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing offers three types of scholarship to B.Tech scholars whose annual family income is less than 4.5 lakhs:

• Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: 25% of eligible B.Tech students receive a stipend of INR 1000 per month and an exemption from payment of tuition fees.
• SC/ST Scholarship: SC/ST students receive a concession of mess charges, a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month and are exempted from paying hostel seat rent and tuition fees.
• Institute free Studentship: 10% of eligible B.Tech students are awarded exemption from paying tuition fees.

IIITDM offers education assistantship for SC and ST Students. The scholarship provides:

• Boarding and lodging charges at the rate of INR 2,220 every month per student or the actuals whichever is less.
• Books and stationery at the rate of INR 3000 per year per student or the actuals whichever is less.
• Latest computer assembly with all the essential components like UPS, Printer, Multi-media etc. within INR 45,000 per student for the entire course.
