Hey there, fellow MBA aspirants! I’m Sanket Deshmukh, a first-year PGDM student at Vivekanand Business School (VBS). I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this institute that goes the extra mile to ensure the overall development of its students. VBS truly understands the significance of personal growth in addition to academic excellence, and they accomplish this through a diverse range of co-curricular activities and club initiatives. I’ve personally witnessed how these initiatives, such as the Incubation & Entrepreneurship Cell, Placement Cell, and Alumni Cell, provide us with exceptional opportunities to explore our passions, develop essential skills, and nurture a well-rounded approach to education.

In this post, I want to share with you all the incredible clubs and co-curricular activities at VBS and shed light on the cultural events we organise. These events play a significant role in fostering personal growth and enriching the student community as a whole.

Vivekanand Business School prides itself on its diverse range of clubs that cater to students’ interests and aspirations. These clubs serve as platforms for students to hone their skills, gain practical experience, and expand their horizons beyond the classroom.

Let me share some of these clubs and their contributions:

Incubation & Entrepreneurship Cell:

The Incubation & Entrepreneurship Cell at VBS serves as a launchpad for aspiring entrepreneurs. This club nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit within students by organising workshops, seminars, and guest lectures that feature successful entrepreneurs & alumnus for VBS.  It also provides mentorship and guidance to students with innovative business ideas, helping them turn their concepts into reality.

Placement Cell:

The Placement Cell at VBS plays a pivotal role in preparing students for the corporate world. The cell equips students with the skills necessary to excel in the corporate world through industry interactions, mock interviews, resume-building workshops, and internship opportunities. The Placement Cell also collaborates with renowned companies and invites them to campus for recruitment drives, ensuring students have access to a wide array of job prospects.

Alumni Cell:

The Alumni Cell nurtures a robust connection between VBS and its esteemed network of former students. This association actively arranges frequent gatherings, extending invitations to accomplished alumni who graciously impart their journey and wisdom to the present students. Capitalising on the reservoir of expertise and experience residing within its alumni community, VBS empowers its students to glean insights from seasoned industry practitioners, broaden their professional connections, and acquire priceless vocational counsel. Additionally, the Alumni Cell orchestrates sporting events or an annual sports day tailored for our alumni.

The Branding and Social Media Cell at VBS focuses on teaching students the intricacies of brand management, digital marketing, and social media strategies. Students gain practical knowledge and skills in this ever-evolving field through workshops, case studies, and hands-on projects.

Notably, the SWC cell plays a central role in coordinating the cultural events held at VBS.

Finance Cell, HR Cell, Operations and Supply Chain Management Cell, and Marketing Cell:

These specialised cells cater to students pursuing careers in specific fields. Each cell conducts intra-college competitions pertaining to the cell. workshops, seminars, and industry interactions to enhance students’ domain knowledge and practical understanding. These clubs provide valuable insights into the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities within their respective sectors, equipping students with the skills required for professional success.

Cultural Events at VBS

VBS understands the importance of fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. To this end, the institute hosts several cultural events throughout the academic year. These events provide a platform for students to showcase their talents, collaborate with peers, and celebrate their diverse backgrounds.

Let’s explore some of these events:

BASIC (Business Analytics & Social Innovation Conference):

BASIC is a flagship event that brings together industry experts, academicians, and students to explore the realms of business analytics and social innovation. The conference features keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, allowing participants to gain insights into emerging trends and network with professionals in these fields.

Aarohan (Cultural Fest):

Aarohan is a grand cultural fest that celebrates diversity and talent. It includes various competitions, performances, and exhibitions that showcase the artistic and creative abilities of VBS students. This event creates a vibrant atmosphere on campus, fostering a sense of camaraderie and cultural exchange.

Parichay (An outbound program) :

New students come in every year at VBS to take a leap of success, but being new and not knowing anyone can be tough to connect with people around you. So to tackle this problem, VBS came up with Parichay, the outbound activity Program, where the students of our batch were taken to a campsite at Vangani where we all participated in adventure sports and were engaged in team building activities where we worked as a team. This initiative genuinely helped us connect with each other at the very beginning of our journey.

Exhibition and Conference on Social Innovation:

This event focuses on addressing societal challenges through innovative solutions. Students have the opportunity to showcase their research, projects, and ideas that contribute to social impact. The exhibition and conference encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among participants.

Hackathon (Data Quiz):

The Hackathon is a competitive event that challenges participants’ analytical and problem-solving abilities. Students work in teams to solve real-world business problems using data analysis and strategic thinking. The event provides a platform for students to apply their classroom knowledge and collaborate with peers in a high-pressure environment.

Reminiscence (Alumni Meet):

Reminiscence is a special event that brings together VBS alumni from different batches. It serves as a reunion and networking opportunity, where former students share their experiences, achievements, and insights. The event not only strengthens the bond between alumni and the institute but also inspires current students through the success stories of their predecessors.

Aspirants, this is how Vivekanand Business School’s commitment to personal growth and overall development is evident through its diverse range of co-curricular activities and club initiatives. These clubs provide us students with invaluable opportunities to explore our passions, develop essential skills, and connect with industry professionals. Additionally, the cultural events hosted by VBS, including BASIC and Aarohan, create a vibrant and inclusive campus culture that celebrates talent and diversity. As a first-year PGDM student at VBS, I am grateful for the holistic education and personal growth opportunities that the institute provides. Through these initiatives, VBS nurtures well-rounded individuals who are equipped to make a meaningful impact in the corporate world and society at large.
