As per his LinkedIn profile, Purohit began his professional journey as a Management Trainee with Aditya Birla Group in June 2002 and served there until August 2006, reaching the position of Brand Initiatives Manager at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. He then joined Tommy Hilfiger in September 2006 as its Head of Business Operations in Bengaluru. In March 2008, he moved to Mumbai as the Head of Retail at Reliance Brands Limited, where he played a vital role in launching the company’s e-commerce platform, Reliance Digital, and expanding its presence across India. Later, from 2013 to 2015, he served as the Director of Seller Services at Amazon India. In this role, he was responsible for building and scaling Amazon’s marketplace business in India. Under his leadership, Amazon’s marketplace business in India increased and became one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the country. He played a pivotal role in developing and executing business strategies for these companies. In November 2016, Purohit returned to Mumbai as COO of Tata CLiQ and was promoted to CEO in June 2018. This was his final profile before joining Meta India.
Meta India has reported gross advertising revenues of Rs 16,189 crore or around $2 billion for FY22, a 74 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise, according to the company’s filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Giving him a hefty pay of around more than around 80 lakhs last year.
