MAT 2025 Exam Dates (December Session) – Registration, Schedule & Mode

Registration for the MAT December 2025 exam is currently open, and the application form can be filled out on the official AIMA MAT website. Candidates can choose to appear for the exam in either PBT (Paper-Based Test) or CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode. The MAT PBT is scheduled for December 13, 2025, while the MAT CBT will be conducted on December 21, 2025.

Since the test cities for PBT and CBT differ, applicants must select their preferred exam mode based on the available city list. The IBT mode has been discontinued, which means candidates can no longer take the MAT from home.

The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a popular MBA entrance exam conducted across India for admission into top business schools. It is organized by the All India Management Association (AIMA) and serves as a gateway for students aspiring to pursue an MBA. Successful candidates can secure admission in over 800 B-schools nationwide.

The exam is conducted four times a year, typically in February, May, August, and December, offering multiple opportunities for candidates to appear.

MAT is conducted in both Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Paper-Based Test (PBT) modes, allowing candidates to choose the mode that best suits their convenience.

The test consists of objective-type questions with multiple-choice answers in both PBT and CBT formats. Each session witnesses approximately 20,000 candidates competing for MBA seats across India.

MAT 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The Management Aptitude Test is conducted once every year by the All India Management Association. These are the exams beautifully designed to assess the ability of a candidate desirous of pursuing management programs. 

The MAT exam is conducted once a year. However the whole examination is divided into four sub exams scheduled in the months of February, May, August and December. People call the difficulty level of MAT somewhat below as compared to the CAT.

The level of questions in the MAT tests vary from easy to moderate level. The scores of the test are acceptable at various prestigious management colleges across India. The only prerequisite for applying for the test is basic eligibility. Thus an applicant is advised to well check all the eligibility for appearing for the test.

The eligibility criteria for the respective test has remained unchanged over the years. This year too it is likely to be the same. All the details regarding the eligibility criteria are described below.

Educational qualifications 

  • Only those candidates who have completed their undergraduate or equivalent are eligible to apply. 
  • However, candidates with any discipline can apply.
  • Those in the final year of their undergraduate can also apply.

Number of attempts allowed 

  • There is no specific section in the notification regarding the number of attempts an applicant can give.
  • Thus it has been supposed that candidates can appear for as many attempts as they can, provided they fulfill the criteria for eligibility. 
  • Candidates belonging to other nations apart from India are also eligible for MAT 2025.

Age limit

  • No age bar set for appearing for the exam.

Note : There is no minimum percentage criteria before applying for MAT. However, admission into colleges is accepted only meeting the prescribed minimum marks set by the college.

MAT 2025 Registration Process – How to Apply Online

The MAT 2025 application form is common for CBT, PBT, and IBT modes. The registration process is completely online, and candidates can apply by following these simple steps:

  1. Visit the official AIMA MAT website: https://mat.aima.in/

  2. Click on the ‘Register’ option.

  3. Enter your name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, state, city, test mode, and create a password.

  4. Use the MAT ID received via email and SMS for authentication.

  5. On the next page, select your preferred test mode (CBT, PBT, or IBT), test cities, and up to five preferred B-Schools.

  6. Pay the application fee via debit/credit card, net banking, or e-wallet.

  7. Fill in the academic and personal details in the MAT 2025 application form.

  8. Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature.

  9. Complete the process by clicking the Submit button.

  10. An acknowledgement email confirming successful form submission will be sent.

Important Notes:

  • MAT PBT and CBT exams are held in different cities, so check the availability of your chosen test mode in your city before submitting the form.

  • Test city selections cannot be edited after form submission, so make sure to choose carefully.

  • Candidates opting for additional test will have the benefit of selecting additional 2 Management Institutes for sending their scores in addition to existing option of selecting 5 Management Institutes i.e. they can select 7 Management Institutes in total.

Exam Pattern for MAT 2025

The MAT 2025 exam is conducted in multiple modes, including CBT, PBT, and IBT, but the question paper pattern remains the same across all modes. The exam consists of five sections, each containing 30 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There are no TITA (Type In The Answer) questions, making a total of 150 questions to be completed in 120 minutes.

Candidates can attempt the sections in any order, as there is no sectional time limit.

Syllabus for MAT 2025

The MAT Syllabus for 2025 has undergone revisions. The subject of Indian and Global Environment has been substituted with Economics and Business Studies. The other four sections remain unchanged, comprising Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, and Intelligence & Critical Reasoning. According to the updated format, the MAT 2025 Question Paper will comprise 150 questions to be answered within a duration of 120 minutes.

MAT 2025 Result – September Session

The MAT 2025 result for the September session will be available through candidate login on the official AIMA MAT portal. To access your result, candidates need to log in using their MAT registration number or roll number.

Previous session results are also accessible in the student dashboard for reference. Candidates appearing in multiple sessions can use their best score for MBA admission. Selection to MBA/PGDM programs is based on the MAT score followed by the Personal Interview (PI).

How to check the MAT 2025 Result online

A candidate can check the results online using the respective website of AIMA given earlier. The steps to check the results are given underneath. 

  • Use the link to visit the official website of AIMA.
  • Candidates must be ready to enter the registration id and roll number to check and download the result.
  • Candidates also have to select the month in which they appeared for the exam in the drop down menu.
  • However, there is a provision that AIMA will send the hard copy of the result to the successful candidates by post.

MAT Result using SMS

  • This facility is designed by AIMA for checking the results through SMS.

The validity of the score for MAT exam is upto a period of one year after the publication of results of MAT exam. It is accepted by a total of 800 plus management schools across India.

After the results are published, it is sent to the Management Institutes selected by the candidates at the time of registration. However one can also select more business schools after paying an additional fee.

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their entrance test scores. After shortlisting candidates, they are called for a writing test, GD and PI rounds of selection. Though the selection procedure is solely based on the standards set by the candidates.

Scoring on the MAT Exam

The MAT score also consists of sectional results. The results are displayed for all the five sections of the examination. Some of the details about them are discussed below.

  • For the section of Indian & Global Environment, a separate score is calculated on a scale of 0-100.
  • However this section marks are not included in the MAT score. 
  • Thus composite score in MAT is calculated using the marks obtained in 4 sections only.

MAT Cutoff

The MAT exam consists of 150 questions with 1 mark each for every right answer. Many B-schools accept these scores. However one should note that the cutoffs for each college vary accordingly.

To get a rank in the shortlisted candidates it is very important to clear the cutoffs for admission into various colleges.

Cutoffs are actually the minimum scores each candidate must secure to be eligible to get shortlisted for joining the management institutions India.
