What is the IPMAT Exam?

IPMAT stands for Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test. It is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) for admission to its five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM).

The IPM is a dual-degree programme that combines undergraduate and postgraduate studies in management. Upon successful completion of the course, students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) by IIM Indore. The programme is specially designed for students who aspire to build a career in business, management, and related fields after Class 12.

The IPMAT exam is known for its rigorous and competitive nature. It assesses candidates on theoretical knowledge along with analytical, logical, and critical thinking abilities. IPMAT Indore is conducted in online mode and is followed by a Personal Interview (PI) round for shortlisted candidates.

The five-year programme is structured into 15 terms, with each academic year divided into three terms of approximately three months each.

IPM Course 2026–31: Two Phases Explained

Candidates seeking admission to the five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) at IIM Indore should understand that the programme is divided into two distinct phases. Phase I covers the first three years, while Phase II comprises the final two years. Here is a detailed overview of both phases:

Phase I

Phase I forms the academic foundation of the IPM course. During the first three years, students are introduced to core subjects across management, social sciences, and quantitative techniques. In addition to classroom learning, students must complete a social internship at the end of the third year to gain practical exposure and real-world understanding.

Phase II

Phase II focuses primarily on advanced Business Management studies. In the fourth and fifth years, students undertake MBA-level coursework. Along with academic learning, they are required to complete a business internship between the fourth and fifth years to gain corporate experience and industry exposure.

  5. Start with the questions that you find the easiest and are less time-consuming, and then tackle the harder ones.

  6. Solve as many mock tests and previous year papers as possible to improve on your weak areas.
