UPES Dehradun Scholarship

UPES Dehradun offers various scholarships, including academic, merit, and Uttarakhand State Board scholarships. These scholarships are awarded based on the university’s entrance tests, as well as the performance of students in the Uttarakhand State Board exams. Below are the details of the scholarships:

B.Tech Scholarships: Merit-Based Scholarship: This scholarship is granted to students who achieve an aggregate of 80% marks in classes X and XII, along with 80% marks in PCM subjects for B.Tech. The scholarships are limited to 10% of the seats in each B.Tech program. Eligible candidates will be awarded scholarships in the first semester based on merit. The continuation of scholarships in subsequent years will be subject to the university’s policy. The scholarship amount covers 50% of the tuition fee for the first semester.

Scholarship for Uttarakhand State Board Toppers: One seat per program is reserved for Uttarakhand State Board toppers. These seats fall within the 15% reservation for Uttarakhand resident students. Candidates must possess a “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” (Permanent Residence Certificate). Students can avail only one scholarship at a time, either through Uttarakhand Board Toppers or the Uttarakhand Resident category. The scholarship amount is a tuition fee waiver of 25% for boys and 35% for girls in their first year. The subsequent years’ scholarship will be governed by the university’s merit scholarship policy.

Scholarships for MBA: UPES provides scholarships for MBA programs based on CAT scores. Students who have achieved 85% marks are eligible for the following scholarships:

Academic Scholarship: UPES provides merit scholarships of up to 100%, with 50% reserved for female students. These scholarships are available to students who have applied for admission to UPES courses and have taken UPES entrance tests. However, the scholarships will be awarded only to those students who meet the scholarship criteria for the first semester and subsequent renewals, if applicable. The criteria for the scholarships are as follows:

Scholarship Criteria: The Academic Scholarship will be granted to the top performers of the UPES Entrance Exam, up to a maximum of 10% of the total number of scholarships available. UPES reserves the right to conduct multiple rounds of the entrance examination, and a separate merit list will be prepared for each round. In the event that the top performer does not accept the scholarship for any reason, UPES may consider the next top performer for the scholarship. The total number of scholarships available is up to 1900, with 50% reserved for female students (950 scholarships), and the remaining scholarships are open to both male and female students in the general category.

Scholarship Benefit: The scholarships will range from 20% to 100% of the tuition fees for the first semester only. The renewal of scholarships for the subsequent semesters is at the discretion of UPES Dehradun.

Concession for Uttarakhand Students: Students who are bonafide residents of Uttarakhand are eligible for a 33% tuition fee concession, subject to meeting the following conditions and submitting the required supporting documents:

  • Submission of ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’ Certificate along with the admission form.
  • Submission of an Income Certificate to prove that the gross family income is not more than INR 12 lakh per annum, along with a copy of the last income tax return filed.

Freeships: The objective of freeships is to provide access to quality education for students from economically weaker sections who demonstrate high aspirations, commitment, and caliber. The eligibility criteria for freeships are as follows:

  • The total number of 50 seats is available only for the regular program based on merit.
  • The upper age limit for UG and PG programs is 20 and 25 years, respectively, on the date of registration.
  • The minimum academic eligibility for the respective program at the time of admission must be met, as mentioned in the admission prospectus.
  • An EWS (Economically Weaker Section) certificate issued by the District Magistrate (DM)/Additional District Magistrate (ADM)/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/First Class Stipendiary Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner must be submitted.
  • As per JEE notification, the EWS category income should be up to INR 8 LPA.
  • The renewal of freeships will be based on a minimum SGPA/CGPA of 6.0 in the last exam passed.

Sports Scholarships: UPES has introduced a new scheme of providing scholarships for talented sports person. This scholarship started with the aim to develop a sports culture in the university. The criteria for new and existing students is tabulated below:

Scholarships Based on Academic Performance – Starting from the Second Year: The academic scholarship policy applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The scholarship will be granted to 10% of the total students enrolled in each program or at least 1 student, whichever is higher. The 10% figure will be rounded up to the nearest whole number. The scholarship policy for the year 2022 is based on the exceptional academic performance of students during the academic year 2022-23, as outlined below:

Alumni Scholarship: The Alumni Scholarship provides a 35% tuition fee waiver for the entire program duration. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships. No alumni fee will be charged, and the scholarship renewal for the following year is contingent upon achieving a minimum SGPA/CGPA of 8, with no backlogs or disciplinary cases against the student. The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicable to all alumni who graduated from 2017 onwards. For alumni who graduated before 2017, the Department of Alumni Relations will submit their case to the scholarship committee for special approval.
  • Alumni must meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for the respective programs for the academic year 2022-23.

Digital Innovation Scholarships (Sponsored by Meta) – School of Modern Media (SOMM): Students who have applied for admission to undergraduate courses offered by UPES SOMM and meet the eligibility criteria for family income, as well as qualifying through the selection process, are eligible for this scholarship. The criteria for eligibility are provided in the following table:
