University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun Admission Process

UPES provides a comprehensive range of full-time B.Tech programs in 33 different specialisations. These programs include regular B.Tech courses in 16 specialisations, as well as specialised courses offered in collaboration with IBM and XEBIA in 13 and 3 specialisations respectively.

UPES Dehradun B.Tech Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for B.Tech admission at UPES Dehradun, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• A minimum of 50% marks in both class 10 and 10+2 examinations.
• At least 50% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects at the 10+2 level.

For admission through the Non-examination pathway, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

• 50% marks in 10+2 and in PCM subjects for board merit.
• 50% marks in 10+2 and in PCM subjects for JEE Main merit.

The merit for JEE Main will be announced on the UPES website after the declaration of the JEE Main Result. The centralised counseling for admission will be conducted based on the Merit Ranking derived from the JEE Main result.

UPES Dehradun Admission Criteria for B.Tech Selection:

The selection for B.Tech admission at UPES is based on two pathways:

1. Examination Pathway: Admission through UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPESEAT).
2. Non-examination Pathway: Admission based on JEE Main/10+2 merit.

For admission based on JEE Main Merit, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

• Minimum 50% marks in both class 10th and 12th.
• Minimum 50% aggregate marks in PCM subjects at the 10+2 level.

For admission based on Board Merit, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

• Minimum 80% marks in both class 10th and 12th.
• Minimum 80% aggregate marks in PCM subjects at the 10+2 level.

UPES provides a range of M.Tech courses in 12 specialisations, each with a duration of two years. Candidates who wish to apply for these programs must hold a BE/B.Tech degree from a recognised university.

The UPES Dehradun course admissions process for M.Tech involves initial screening of the candidate’s application, followed by a personal interview.

The university offers a 2-year M.Sc program at the postgraduate level and 3-year B.Sc and B.Sc (Hons) programs at the undergraduate level. To be eligible for the postgraduate program, candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in B.Sc and 50% marks in 10th & 12th (PCMB). For the undergraduate programs, the eligibility criteria are 50% marks in class 10th & 12th and 50% marks in PCM / PCB.

Once eligible students have filled out the application form, a screening process will be conducted, followed by an interview. Admission will be granted to those who perform well in the interview.

Selection Criteria for B.Sc course is a Personal Interview.

UPES Dehradun provides undergraduate programs in B.Com, B.Com (Hons), and B.Com (Hons) in Banking, Insurance & Management, each with a duration of 3 years. To be eligible for admission, students must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in their 10+2 examinations. The selection process for the course involves evaluating the performance of the candidates in the Interview round.

The School of Law at UPES offers BA LL.B, B.Com LL.B, BBA LL.B, and LL.M programs. The duration of the LLB programs is 5 years, while the LL.M program has a duration of 2 years. Admission to the LLB programs is based on the ULSAT exam conducted by the institute, while admission to the LL.M program is based on the ULSAT-LL.M exam.

To be eligible for BA LL.B, B.Com LL.B, and BBA LL.B programs, students must have a minimum of 50% marks in their Class 10th and 12th examinations. The specialisations available in these programs are as follows:

UPES Dehradun Admission Criteria for LL.M Specialisations, Eligibility & Selection are as follows:

Under the School of Design Studies (SoDS), UPES offers a 2-year M.Des program and a 4-year B.Des program. Admission to these courses is granted based on a valid score in the UPES Design Aptitude Test (UPES – DAT), followed by a Personal Interview and Portfolio presentation.

BA program in School of Business:

The BA program offered by the School of Modern Media at UPES encompasses various specialisations. To be eligible for the program, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in their class 10th and 12th examinations. The final selection for the program will be based on a personal interview conducted by the institute.

MA Specialisations, Eligibility & Selection Criteria are as follows:

UPES Dehradun provides a variety of specialisations for the BBA program. Candidates who have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in their 10th and 12th standard examinations are eligible for the course. To secure admission to the BBA program, candidates need to appear for the UPESMET-UG entrance examination.

The selection process for the BBA program involves either the UPESMET-UG entrance examination or admissions through national level tests.

UPES provides a two-year MBA program with 11 different specialisations. To be admitted to this program, candidates need to qualify for the UPES Management Entrance Test (UPESMET). However, there is also an alternative pathway for admission called the Non-Examination Pathway, where candidates can be considered based on their scores in national-level entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, CMAT, NMAT, or XAT.

The final selection for the MBA program is determined by the candidate’s performance in the Entrance Exam, followed by a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

UPES Dehradun MBA Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for admission to the MBA program, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in their 10th, 12th, and Graduation from a recognised University.

UPES Dehradun MBA Selection Criteria: The selection process for the MBA program at UPES involves either the UPESMET entrance exam conducted by the university or any national entrance exam. Candidates who have a valid score in any of the mentioned entrance tests will be called for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

UPESMET Test Scheme: The UPESMET entrance exam consists of questions from the following sections, as outlined in the table below:
