IIT Roorkee Hostels

IIT Roorkee’s residential facilities are referred to as Bhawans, which include 10 Men’s Hostels, 3 Women’s Hostels, and 6 Hostels for married students. Additionally, the newly inaugurated Viyan Kunj Hostel is a Co-Ed hostel. Typically, incoming freshmen at IIT Roorkee are assigned to Rajendra Bhawan or Cautley Bhawan, where they are provided with single or double rooms. The hostel fees at IIT Roorkee amount to approximately ₹ 7500 per semester.

IIT Roorkee’s hostels offer a wide range of amenities and services, including:

24-hour internet connectivity
Fully automated laundry facilities
Barber shops
Fruit and stationary shops
Day and night canteens
Guest rooms
Indoor sports facilities such as Table Tennis, Chess, Yoga, and Carrom
A well-equipped gym
Outdoor sports facilities including Badminton and Volleyball courts.

SECURITY

The IIT Roorkee campus is well secured and surrounded by boundary walls. There are security guards at every entrance gate, who check all the vehicles entering the campus. Inside the campus, a number of security booths keep a strict vigil. Complaints regarding security can be registered in the security office.

POST OFFICE

The IIT Roorkee campus has a post office within its premises which is situated near the U.G. club. The post office is well equipped and caters to the needs of the students and the faculty, as well as the non-residents of the campus. The post office works on all weekdays from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., and on Saturdays from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.

BANKS

There are two banks on-campus: the Punjab National Bank (P.N.B.) and the State Bank of India(S.B.I.). Both the banks provide Centralised Banking Services, Internet Banking and A.T.M. facilities. On enrollment, every student of IIT-R must open an account with either bank.

Both the banks are centrally located. While P.N.B. is near the post office, the S.B.I branch on IIT Roorkee campus is located in the main building. The A.T.M. of Punjab National Bank is located next to the bank. S.B.I. operates 2 A.T.M.s on-campus- one near the bank branch and the other in Cautley Bhawan. Apart from these, many banks have branches and A.T.M. facilities in the town, that is, off-campus.
