Alagappa University Campus Facility

The Alagappa University is situated in Karaikudi district in Tamil Nadu. The university was founded by Dr. RM Alagappa Chettiar, who was a great educationalist and philanthropist.

The university came into existence by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1985.  Alagappa University was initially a unitary type of college which was gradually transformed into an affiliating type.

This change was incorporated by the Act of 2002 that was taken by the Tamil Nadu Universities. Alagappa University has a membership of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) because of which it has an excellent relationship with the other academic institutions, industrial establishments and research laboratories.

The primary agenda of the university is “Excellence in action”. Alagappa University offers a vast range of facilities for its students as well as faculty members within its campus.

Firstly the Central Library of the university that spread across an area of 2,012 square metres, started its services in the year 1987.

It has a seating capacity of two hundred people. Around one lakh printed books, 492 items in the category of non-book materials, printed periodicals 149 are present in the Library.

Besides these collections, the library has internet access and also provides Online Journals more than 6,242 and e-thesis journal of more than 1,31,000 numbers.

The library has focused on the academic needs of the postgraduate and PhD students. Also, the library offers a spacious reading hall, computerized rooms, stack rooms of three-tire. Library remains open from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Students of Alagappa University has the opportunity of staying at mess halls in the Alagappa University campus with proper availability of quality food. The university provides around fifteen hostels which consist of 427 rooms for both men and women. These hostels have clean rooms with big halls for reading and enough open area to perform the games and sports-related activities.

Alagappa University campus also has a Health Care Centre. The centre offers all kind of medical check-up to the students, non-teaching members and faculty members.

Cafeteria, Yoga Centre, Guest House, Information Technology Avenue are also present at the Alagappa University Campus.
