The exam pattern for the Combined Graduate Level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission has released. The mode of exam for each tier can be given as follows:

  • Tier 1: Objective multiple-choice questions which is a computer-based test.
  • Tier 2: objective multiple-choice questions which is also a computer-based test.
  • Tier 3: Descriptive paper in English or Hindi: pen and paper mode.
  • Tier 4: Skill test/ computer proficiency test: computer-based test.

SSC CGL Tier 1 syllabus:

This exam will have 4 questions, and those will be based on the 10th and 12th standard level syllabus.

SSC CGL Tier 4 Syllabus:

This exam will consist of skill test which will be mandatory for a government post:

  • DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): It is a compulsory test for all the candidates and is mandatory for all posts except for Compiler. This exam aims to check the typing speed of the candidate. In this test the candidates are given printed material in English, and they should finish typing accurately with a 200-key depression. This exam is conducted for 15 minutes.
  • CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): SSC will hold CPT in 3 modules: word processing, spreadsheet and generation of slides. CPT is a test for posts of assistant section officer in CSS, MES and AFHO, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant in the ministry of mines, inspector in CBIC.
  • Document Verification: the last and the final step of selection will include document verification.
