Due to a bank holiday in Tamil Nadu today, January 17, 2017, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main office has extended the fee payment deadline for applicants by one more day. Though the application portal is closed, registered candidates who are yet to pay the fees can do it by January 18, 11:59 pm. They must visit the official JEE Main portal and login using their application number and password.

JEE authorities have released a notification on the official JEE Main portal about the same. JK Yadav, Deputy Secretary, JEE Main, said, “We had to extend the deadline by a day as the Tamil Nadu government declared a bank holiday today.”

The last date for fee payment for JEE Main applicants is extended for the second time this year. Earlier, it was January 3, then January 17, and now tomorrow, January 18, is the last date.

The Tamil Nadu government declared today as a public holiday, which was applicable to all state government offices, corporations, local and cooperative bodies, boards constituted by the government and all banks, including cooperative, schools, colleges and all other educational institutions. It was declared a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, to celebrate the birth centenary of MG Ramachandran, former Chief Minister and AIADMK founder.
