  • How do i prepare for RRB SSE

    The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts an examination called the RRB Senior Selection Engineer (SSE) and an RRB Junior Selection Engineer (JE). The exam is not conducted very frequently. It is announced only when there is a vacancy of these posts. The last notification was released in 2015. Every aspirant is waiting patiently for the next notification to be released.

    The RRB SSE examination is a two-hour paper that contains a total of 150 objective questions that the candidate is required to answer. The rough layout of the question paper will be provided below. All the questions are objective questions and the paper is divided into a technical part and a general knowledge part.     The general knowledge part contains the following subparts:

    • General intelligence and reasoning
    • General awareness
    • Arithmetic

    The technical part is different for different posts. The candidates applying for the mechanical engineer post will have questions dependent on mechanics and the candidate preparing for the electrical engineer part will be asked questions from the electrical syllabus.

    The technical knowledge cannot be altered or helped with by others and it is completely dependent on the knowledge gained by the candidate in his or her college. The general knowledge and arithmetic section can be helped out with as usually, the people preparing for the examination by themselves will not have a lot of idea about the source from where they need to study.

    The numerical ability section is a very scoring section if practiced daily. The candidates can score very easily and quickly if they like to in this section. Only practicing different types of questions and solving the calculations mentally will help the candidate solve the questions faster that will some extra time for the candidate to answer the more difficult and time-consuming questions from the other sections.

    The books required for the preparation of these sections mainly comprise of the yearbooks and old mock tests. One can take the help of the few books written by the very renowned writer R.S. Agarwal on verbal ability and English comprehension and so on.

    In addition to the reference books and yearbooks, the candidates can use some more help from the few tips and tricks mentioned below.

     

    • Time management

     

    The candidate should be able to complete the questions and the work in the given amount of time. Time management is a very important aspect in a competitive paper like the RRB SSE examination paper.

     

    • Smart work

     

    Working smartly will help the candidate save some time which can later be utilized in the other questions that may need more thought. To work smartly the candidate should answer the questions he or she knows completely and leave the rest for later. If time permits the candidate can answer the partially sure questions first and then the hard ones which may need too much time.

     

    • Rest

     

    Resting and staying calm is a very important aspect for a candidate aspiring to compete for any position. Many people turn to yoga and self-care to calm their nerves and to increase their confidence.

     

    • Practice mocks

     

    Practice makes perfect works perfectly well in this situation. The candidates require practicing as many questions as possible so that they get a basic idea of the kinds of questions that can be asked. Solved mock tests will also help them get used to answering that kind of difficult questions with a proper speed which will help them while answering the paper.

     

    • Tests

     

    Taking a test and assessing one’s mistakes themselves help them realize what all they need to study more and where they need to work harder. Taking time-bound tests will increase the candidates’ solving speed and will ensure that the candidate is able to answer as many questions as possible in the time that is provided to them.
