The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts an examination called the RRB Senior Selection Engineer (SSE) and an RRB Junior Selection Engineer (JE). The exam is not conducted very frequently. It is announced only when there is a vacancy of these posts. The last notification was released in 2015. Every aspirant is waiting patiently for the next notification to be released.

The RRB SSE examination is a two-hour paper that contains a total of 150 objective questions that the candidate is required to answer. The rough layout of the question paper will be provided below. All the questions are objective questions and the paper is divided into a technical part and a general knowledge part. The general knowledge part contains the following subparts:

  • Arithmetic

The technical part is different for different posts. The candidates applying for the mechanical engineer post will have questions dependent on mechanics and the candidate preparing for the electrical engineer part will be asked questions from the electrical syllabus.

The technical knowledge cannot be altered or helped with by others and it is completely dependent on the knowledge gained by the candidate in his or her college. The general knowledge and arithmetic section can be helped out with as usually, the people preparing for the examination by themselves will not have a lot of idea about the source from where they need to study.

The candidate should be able to complete the questions and the work in the given amount of time. Time management is a very important aspect in a competitive paper like the RRB SSE examination paper.

To work smartly the candidate should answer the questions he or she knows completely and leave the rest for later. If time permits the candidate can answer the partially sure questions first and then the hard ones which may need too much time.
