Its rightly said that life at a management school is much beyond the classroom learning, and one of the significant opportunities to unleash a real manager inside you is furnished by the various fests organized round the year, which are fully conceptualized and executed by the student community.
I recently had one such experience by being part of the organizing team of SOLARIS’19, The Annual Management Fest of IIM Udaipur concluded on the 9th and 10th of November, the theme for which was “Success through Synergy.” The two-day event witnessed 15+ dynamic speakers from all walks of life in 6 Summits focused upon domains like Finance, Marketing, Operations, Economics, and Consulting.
The drive to make the fest monumental this time was powered by the fact that this was the fifth edition of the biggest management extravaganza Rajasthan witnesses, and we were determined to take it a notch up. To make this dream come true, a team of 150+ volunteers divided across eight verticals worked relentlessly for a duration of three months amidst their hectic schedule filled with lectures and assignments.
The objective was to put up an event that not only stimulates the audience but also garner greater engagement from across the country. To ensure the same, we had put substantial emphasis on digital marketing strategies and content development.
A team of 20+ in-house designers and content developers ran 100 days long campaign in the form of exciting contests and anticipatory videos and were able to generate 1 lakh+ impressions across four Social Media platforms. In addition to this, we associated with 70+ campus ambassadors who were responsible for promoting the event at their respective institutes.
The major attraction of the fest was the 18 mind-boggling competitions organized by the functional clubs of IIM Udaipur, which saw participation from 8000 contestants across the nation and had total prize money worth Rs. 3,50,000.
The main event was preceded by a pre-event named “INQUIZZITION,” a series of Interschool competitions which were held on the 3rd of November and saw participation by the kids from 5 prominent schools of Udaipur.
The aim of the pre-event was to introduce the school participants to the biggest IIM campus and provide them a view of what life at a premium B-school is like. The event was a grand success with 150+ participants taking part in various events like Quiz, Debate, and Spellbee and winners taking home prizes worth Rs. 50,000.
The whole journey of Solaris ‘19 provided hands-on experience to students in all aspects of management like Marketing both onfield and online, logistics, financial estimations, risk management, resource planning, and overall project management.
