SIT Tumkur Campus Facilities:-

Library

The centrally located SIT Library comprises two independent three-story buildings covering a total area of 1851 sq. m. It was established through a generous donation by Sri T.N. Kempahonnaiah, a philanthropist from Tumkur.

The library houses a collection of over 1.39 lakh volumes, which includes:

• 60,670 books in the General Section

• 35,632 books in the Book Bank

• 14,683 books in the SC/ST Book Bank

• 28,367 additional volumes

Reference materials include dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, and technical standards. The library also subscribes to 154 technical journals, including around six international publications, and maintains nearly 3,993 back volumes.

To meet AICTE guidelines, the library offers access to over 27,000 e-books from publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, McGraw Hill, New Age International, Packt, Taylor & Francis, Mint Books, and IEEE. These resources are accessible throughout the campus 24/7.

The library has tie-ups with prestigious libraries such as the British Library, NAL Library, IIMB Library, and CMTI Library in Bangalore. It can accommodate up to 543 users at once, with two air-conditioned reading halls (150 users each). The library is fully computerised using NewGenLib software, and students can access the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) across campus.

Hostel Facilities

The SIT Group of Hostels manages 4 boys’ hostels and 2 girls’ hostels with a total capacity of 2,100 students over a built-up area of 30,021 sq. m. Each hostel is overseen by a faculty member acting as Deputy Warden. Rooms are furnished with cots, study tables, chairs, book racks, and ceiling fans.

A guest house is available at nominal charges for visiting parents and guardians, who can also use the hostel mess facilities during their stay.

• The institute has 29 computer centers with 1600 systems for student use, and an additional 250 computers for faculty.

• All computers are updated with the latest configurations.

• A fiber-optic campus-wide network connects labs, departments, hostels, and the library.

• Hostels are integrated through a wireless access network.

• The institute uses a 14 Mbps internet leased line to provide connectivity to all systems across departments and hostels.

SIT Tumkur provides extensive sports infrastructure to support physical education and extracurricular activities:

Auditorium

The auditorium at SIT spans two floors, including a gallery on the first floor, and can seat approximately 1,000 people. It features:

• A modern sound system

• A projection room with a 35mm film projector

• The building was constructed at an estimated cost of INR 15 lakhs
