IIT Patna offers a 4-year undergraduate BTech program, providing a choice of nine specialisations within the program. Additionally, IIT Patna extends two-year MTech and MSc programs at the postgraduate level and provides opportunities for pursuing a PhD degree at the doctoral level.

For BTech admissions at IIT Patna, there are a total of 582 available seats allocated through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced. This competitive exam is taken by applicants seeking admission to the IITs following the completion of their 10+2 education. The BTech program spans eight semesters, covering four academic years. In each semester, students enroll in a range of five to six theory courses alongside laboratory courses. The students’ performance is assessed through a credit system, where each course receives a specific number of credits based on the weekly lecture, tutorial, and lab hours.
