IIT Varanasi Admission Process

IIT BHU is the dream institute for many. It is reputed to be one of the best engineering institutions among the IITs and also other engineering institutions. For getting admission in BHU, the candidates need to score above the minimum cutoff for JEE exams, which are conducted by one of the IITs every year.

IIT Varanasi Admission Highlights

  • For admission in undergraduate B.Tech and integrated dual degree courses, the candidates need to appear in JEE exams and are allotted seats by JoSAA counselling. 
  • For admission in postgraduate M.Tech courses, the selection is based on the marks of GATE examinations scored by the student.
  • For PhD courses, the selection happens on the basis of marks scored in GATE or NET-LS / CSIR/UGC NET JRF/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR JRF/ DST-INSPIRE fellowship.

Mining Engineering Master’s degree in relevant discipline with Mathematics at Intermediate level with a minimum of 65% marks or 6.5 CPI.
Biochemical Engineering Candidates must obtain a relevant master’s degree in the field of science/ engineering/ technology with minimum 75% aggregate marks.

A bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline must be obtained from a recognized university or institute.
